I am starting to research 3.5 tonne horseboxes in view to getting one built. Any recommendations or who to avoid would be greatly appreciated. I am in the South East.

Thanks

Look at Facebook 'Dodgy Horsebox builders', https://www.facebook.com/groups/848835525286872 gives you a good idea as you see peoples experiences. This is another useful group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/2001580536642309.
It does depend on your budget but Equitrek have a poor reputation. The Golden Rule is have a proper horsebox inspection. Depends where you live in the SE but Wayne Henning and Rockstar both are very reputable inspectors. Wayne did a video after Christmas and said who in his experience are doing decent builds at the moment. Its worth a watch: .
Avoid cheap and shiny is the moral of the story, if its a new build solid quality is not cheap.
Have you looked at any yet?

I can highly recommend AM horseboxes. I travelled around the country viewing various manufacturers and chose these. There wasn’t one negative review on them and their build quality is excellent. They very rarely advertis….virtually all their custom comes from previous customer recommendations. The only downside is the build time can be long as there is such a big waitlist.

Thank you I shall have a look at the video. I have had a look at the Dodgy horsebox builders facebook page. There is lots of info to go through on there. I have contacted a few builders just to get an idea of price and see what they offer. I haven't been to see any yet.

I have spoken to AM horseboxes. They are on my list. They seem very helpful. Lead time is around 5-6 months. Would I be able to PM you to ask more questions about your build please?

I would recommend AM Horseboxes too.

Great reputation, really solid boxes, they can configure it exactly how you want.
When I spoke to them, Sue was so helpful and had loads of time for me, I didn't feel rushed.
I emailed some queries and Andy rang me straight back, even on a weekend, to talk me through it.
They are happy for you to speak to prior customers, go and visit etc.

I actually have a Bloomfields box instead- only because my box came up at a ridiculous price for the year and make/model and I couldn't pass it up.
Otherwise I would have an AM box being delivered next month as was so close to putting a deposit down in December!

There are a few makes I would steer clear of, after researching and also after speaking to the companies- some seem to fit the dodgy 2nd hand car dealer vibe!!
