3.5 TONNE LORRY WANTED!!

Can anybody help?
I am looking to buy a 3.5tonne lorry to carry 1x 15.3hh irish sports and 1 x 14hh welsh pony - (their combined weight is approx 1000kg or just under).
Have been looking for a while but not having much luck!
Age not important but the lorry must be roadworthy for the coming summer season and with enough room and weight allowance to carry 2 people, the 2 above horses and tack.
Ideally looking for a side load, facing forwards or backwards as these seem to be a bit more roomy! But will consider a rear loading but must have front unload. Like the look of the Ifor Williams containers but concerned about the height of these (mainly getting the bigger horse off!)
Not sure I'd fit the 15.3hh horse in a herringbone?
Max price of about £6k for the right lorry.
Based in Berkshire but happy to travel.


If anybody knows of a lorry for sale as above please let me know! I think I've exhausted most websites and Ebay!

Bit long but need some advice and guidance on thoughts of selling my beloved little horsebox for a trailer...


I bought a lovely little lvw 3.5 tonne box last year and used it every week up till November to take out my cob hacking and little oldie to local shows in hand.
The box has been SORN and I havent had the MOT done (ran out end of Jan) as I didn't see the point of spending the money for it to sit on the yard.
I'm fed up of looking at the box just sat on the yard having not been used for so long and it obviously will cost more to use again with the uncertainty of the amount it will be used through the summer.

I could probably get around £3k for box as it had a brand new floor fitted and runs like a dream

I've got a LDV with an Ifor back. I've travelled a 16hh and a 14hh, with 2 people, minimum tack and quarter tank of fuel and it was only just shy of maximum weight. If you're going to travel at maximum weight regularly, it would be sensible to make sure it was properly serviced and safety checked regularly.
On the plus side, mine is a P reg and was cheap as chips (2.5k). It does feel as if it rolls a lot, but anything that's travelled in it has travelled really well. It's a rear load, side unload with the horses travelling forward.
Just recently, there's been 2 or 3 similar ones in my area for sale.
