I'm considering getting my van conversion resprayed. I contacted a few local places, a couple have said their workshop isn't big enough (fair enough), so far only one has come back with a rough price... £5000 plus vat

The current paint job is poor so maybe that makes it more expensive? Has anyone had a van resprayed recently? How much should I be expecting it to cost?

I am too tight, I just make do with mine looking shabby, and comfort myself with the knowledge it has a good floor / engine / ramp etc. I think I will only scratch it on branches and hedges when meeting idiots coming the other way on narrow lanes any way.

It cost us £3k to get a transit size van resprayed. Not a horse box I’m afraid but some indicator of price.

you can get a respray and “respray”
one conveniently peels off ?

if you really want to tidy it up but don’t want the cost, have a look on the landrover groups for tips. A lot spray their own. There’s a lot of prep but if you can be arsed you could save some £££.

I'd tried to do some research before contacting places for a quote and seemed it could be £2-3k, I might have been prepared to pay upper end of that but £5k+vat is way out of budget :( For that much I may as well sell it and buy a better looking one, but it just passed mot with no advisories, and other than the paintwork is great so I think I should keep hold of it!

Ideally don't want to go down diy route partly because of time but more because I worry I'd do it wrong and it would end up worse...

ok so…
If you like the lorry, it’s in good nick etc and you say you’d pay £3k max for paint. could you sell it and then would you then get enough to replace it with something just as reliable but with better paint?

it does help your vehicle hold its value if it looks presentable so it may be worth doing!

edited to add - I’ve just realised you’ve got a van conversion. Not an actually lorry. So it’s van size. That does sound a lot; but someone I know bought a “new” van conversion and the paint was absolutely shocking, really bad. So I could see where the extra cost may come from with having more prep work to do.

Is a wrap better/worse than paint? I think mine might actually be a wrap as bits of it are peeling off ?‍♀️. Had thought about getting a re spray but never investigated the cost, not sure I’m that bothered seeing how much it could be!
