Currently have a Nissan Navara and IW 511, but am missing having somewhere to sit/do stuff when we are out and about. Weights not an issue, as only travel one at a time.
Unsure as to whether to get a 3.5tn or not..given you don’t have any sleeping/cooking area, are they really worth it? Don’t want to get an older 7.5tn, as don’t really want to be walking into big mechanic bills!
The ones I have been looking at are around 100k/58 plate, how many miles does a vehicle of this type typically do before the engine starts to give up?

Having had a trailer, a couple of 7.5s and a couple of 3.5s I have no hesitation in recommending a 3.5 if you only want to travel one horse. I love mine. I hated towing and didn't need the big car that I had to have for towing, both of my 7.5s cost a blimmin fortune at each plating and the 3.5s have been easy to drive and cheap to run and my horses have traveled well in them. The engines do a fair few miles before they start to give trouble and they are relatively easy to repair/replace. I have never regretted trading down to one. 100k is fine imo.

I bought a 3.5t lorry about 18 months ago. I hate towing/reversing/parking/hitching up, in fact every thing about towing. Lorry is 11 years old, 70,000 miles. Renault Master so far been totally reliable. Easy to drive, no “living” as such but space in back for tack, storage and a quick change of clothing. I now go out much more as with towing I would think of an excuse not to go. Thoroughly recommended.
