I have been told of a 3 mile sand gallop track on Chobham common but I can't find it. CAn anyone give me directions. From Valley end area is best.
I think they mean the 'Pipe line' which is not suitable to even trot in most places! The ground is very hard in most places and you get SO many dog walkers etc that makes it virtually impossible to do anything past trot!
There is a short stretch before a bridge/after depending on which direction you are coming from which is good enough to have a good canter on.
Then again I care about my horses legs- if you weren't bothered I suppose it is technically a 3 mile stretch!
There are lots of other lovely hacks on the common though![]()
Misshorsestyle, you're probably closer to Brentmoor which is awesome hacking
I go up there with Dorey a lot and we're very close to Bisley (in fact, I drive through it to see her)
If you want to meet up when she's sound and go for a hack, do let me know!! I'm hoping to get shown some more hacking round here too (Brentmoor is like one of 3 or 4 commons we have access too!)!
When I hacked with a fellow HHO member the other week there was quite a few places that we managed a good canter but not 3 miles long.
