Bramble has 4 months to go until she foals, but i'm still not 100% convinced shes definitely in-foal. She was scanned at 16 days and again at 30 days in-foal. I don't know why its just something. My mum keeps saying she is, but everytime i look at her i just think is she? Lol, this probably sounds so so stupid, but i just think she looks a bit tubby. She is a maiden though so prehaps thats why

Well, put it this way - she definately could be.

Amy is a maiden - and quite frankly in brilliant nick, and doesn't look particularly in foal.

Either way you'll know in about 4 months.

I would say Yes. We bought a mare one September and by Christmas suspected she might be in foal - on 2nd April she had a lovely filly foal. She definitely got much larger in the last 3 months. Looking at the head-on picture of Bramble, she definitely looks in foal to me.

I think she looks in foal particularly from the front.
She may well be just carrying it high.
I've got one mare here due to foal in about 3 weeks and she just looks tubby now.
just the same last year she just carries them high.
She had the same size foal as the ones that hung low and looked huge.

Yes, she does look like she is in foal to me too.

If you look at the head on pic she's 'lopsided' and as someone said earlier, they do the most growing in the last 3 months so I wouldn't expect a maide mare to look huge yet.

Hi,
Your mare looks sooo sweet and she looks in foal to me

I don't mean to hi-jack your thread but here photos for comparison of my maiden mare in foal at 8 months. I too often think is she in foal? But the 30 day scan detected a heartbeat, so she must be!

Well.... I had this recently! I sold a filly as she had been scanned not in foal last september, only to get a frantic call from her new owner just 3 weeks later to say that she was bagging up. Looking at her you wouldn't think she was in foal at all, but I bought her back and got my vet out. He had a feel in there and confirmed that she was definitely in foal

These piccies were taken the day I bought her back, at the time of these pictures, she had just over 4 weeks until her due date and is a maiden. We know for sure there is a bambino in there

It's hard to tell from the outside, but I would take a guess that your mare is in foal. If you want to be sure though, ask your vet to come out and check her, then you know one way or the other and can either get the foaling box ready, or get her swabbed and ready to go off to stud again.
