Its been 3 months now since i took charles on permanant loan. During that time i have been working to get him fit, building his back and neck muscles up and feeding him. He is 17 and i dont think he generally wintered well previously. Owner said he was a good weight when i got him!

What do we thiink?

In the last 2 he looks like he's saying, it's just started snowing and you take my clothes off!!!

I'm afraid I'm no expert on 'condition' but he looks lovely.

lol

i took the pic yesterday, he was tied up while i was doing his stable and he was itchign liek mad, so i took his rugs off to see what was goign on and it started to snow. He had hsi head round tryign to get at an itch. friend took some quick pics, inbetween me giving him a quick brush over. then we put all hsi rugs back on, lol.

keeoign him warm is a huge priority, lol. dosnt take long for a horse to loose weight when cold. However he is feelign so much more well, since i got him. He certianly dosnt act liek a 17 year old any more.

My new horse is also 17, I think she has put a bit of weight on since we got her 3 weeks ago. I think it's all the hay she is tucking into - she doesn't stop eating.

I haven't been able to ride her as much as I would have liked because of the rubbish weather and work commitments - can't wait for the lighter evenings.

I shall have to do some 'after' photos too.

He's looking lovely, a big difference from when you first had him. He has a lovely shine on his coat and looks to be generally brighter. Well done with the progress you've made with him, especially as it's winter

Lol! When I first looked at the last two photos I thought that was his back dipping!

We had a few things to address, he was nto worked in an outline for over 2 years, as owner had trouble getting him to work in an outline. Also his feet where a mess. He was toe long and his heels had collapsed. I have a good farrier shoeing him every 5 - 6 weeks nwo to try and correct him feet. He works in an outline consitantly now. He also cribbed when i got him, and i have managed to stop this with a suppliment called antisuck. I also feed him suppliments for digestion. He gets quality adlib hayledge. Ive had hsi teeth checked and his saddle checked.

Owner didi have a lot of tests done with him when she had him to rule out his nasty behaviour being down to pain.

He is a grumpy boy, but he is alot happier and has mellowed a lot.

His owner is hopefully comeing to visit soon and i am hopefull she will be pleased with him
