On the Wintec Wide saddle? What is the difference? almost brought a saddle but turns out it only have 3 girth straps I am led to believe this is wrong?
Having either three or four girth straps is correct. A fourth strap means you have point and balance straps, which provides different anchorage points and give more flexibility for keeping the saddle in the correct position.
As far as I'm aware, the Wintec Wide has 4 girth straps. Not sure if there's any other way to differentiate it from a Wintec 500? I've only seen the Wide briefly on a friend's horse, and that had 4 straps.
Wintec Wide (I've got one) has 4 straps which helps keep the saddle from slipping on a wide cob. It comes with 3 different changes of gullet too. If you have a genuine Wintec Wide with only 3 straps then I guess the previous owner had 1 pair removed, though I can't think why. The other reason is that it might not be a Wintec Wide!
I have been told by many of people that if the Wintec Wide doesn't have 4 girth straps then it isn't actually a Wintec Wide! so I will be looking out for the 4 girth straps, thanks for the help guys, I know the Wintec 500 rang only has 3 girth straps.
