Are there any leads? Might it be someone known to the connections?

Have CCTV footage and an eye witness but think it's someone who really knows the area as they have taken ponies from stables across my fields then across Northfield Country Park along pavement through New Ash Green to be loaded into a pre- parked large cattle trailer pulled by dark grey/black Range Rover Sport. Problem is getting police involved to view all CCTV. Case was opened Fri 0630 and closed Sat 0700 despite footprints and CCTV footage which they sill haven't viewed.

Why would the police close a case if it was a theft and they haven't been returned? A bit odd?

Not that I know of.
Apparently police don't do much or stolen horses. And the new 2024 Pet Abduction Act only protects cars and dogs

One of the mares has a distinctive speckled nose so should be easy to spot.

They do it for bikes all the time, case closed here’s your incident number for your insurance

We had an attempted break in of a vehicle last year and the police didn't even visit, just a crime reference and claim on insurance, it was the same when I was burgled about 15 years ago.

When my neighbour had his motorbike stolen, he personally went from house to house asking if there was a camera available and would they please save the footage of the bike being taken past the house. Facebook alerts helped him to trace the bike, and he alerted police to all the evidence and went round with a couple of mates to take the bike back. Police did act eventually, as the person who stole it had been recently released from prison for drug offences and had 'form.' Sad state of affairs when theft is treated with a shrug. Hope there is a happy ending to your post.

My OHs car was vandalised- wing mirror kicked off and door panel kicked and dented! Police would not give him a crime reference number even though there was £1500 damage!!

The police recovered the two greys. I think the other mare was found dead.

This is not far from me at all there's another mare been taken from a Thong lane field, which is 2 mins down the road from where I keep my mare.
Thankfully she's on a yard with great security and her stable is right by one of the houses on site but it's so worrying

It could be jumping to the wrong conclusion, but looking on Google map there appears to be a scruffy caravan site at the location they were found.
