So he was born with contracted tendons and over at the knee, was given an injection to loosen tendons, it has worked well, but still over at the knee slightly.

Now both knees have a swollen mass under the knee.

vet hooked for sometime tomorrow, should I be worried?

Do you have photos? In a word, yes, I'd be very worried and very cautious.

When you say under where do you mean? Like where the joint meets the cannon, or the backside of the joint?

To be honest vet should have seen today (would have if mine) typical time for joint ill to manifest itself.

The swelling is on both front knees and just below the main knee to the outside. He is not lame. Took temperature and that was normal.

Spoke to the vet and she said its probably due to the mare giving him too much protein.

Just really worried about him.

I once had a 3 week old foal similar to this, but only one leg, below knee but outside edge. She had been born with a slightly contracted tendon. No temp, not lame. Vet saw it and i can't actually remember what she did but its something to do with having had a contracted tendon and a fluid sac that's burst. Foal had 2 or 3 weeks box rest so it didn't get worse and had no further problems other than you can see the swelling which is just a blemish and will cause no problems. I have a photo somewhere which i will see if i can find.

Found the photo's. Its on the outside of her near/left fore knee. Her leg is straight she was just standing funny and it actually showed the swelling up better on the photo. The second photo taken 2 years later. Lets us know what your vet says about yours.
