hi guys, just looking at what everyone feeds their 3 year olds? I'm soon to be getting one and unsure as to what hard feed to put him on so that he gets the best out of his diet. He will have grass and hay. And for his feed obviously chaff, but what else would be good in his feed? Thanks.

Can you show me pics it?

Once a youngster reaches two it's nutritional requirements are that of an adult standing at that height... I would feed a nice grass chaff and a good supplement or balancer at the reccomended daily amount for an adult... I used equimins tip top

So would I, because there is no need to feed anything except good and adequate forage. The balancer might be an added precaution and I'd even wonder about that. When it is in full work and hunting hard two days a week and hacking out on four others, I'd add some hard feed after the heavy work days. Not before. If the horse lost weight or required energy, I'd reconsider.

Hi,

I have a 3 year old Czech Warmblood.

I had a Allen & Page nutritionist come out and weigh him at around a year and half old and they recommended I put him on Allen & Page Veteran Vitality with Hi-Fi unmollassed chaff. BEST THING I ever did!!

so let me explain, un-mollassed because youngsters don't need to much sugar in there diet it makes the grow to quickly they also don't really need feeding up they should have access to as much grass and Hay as you can provide as that is really the best thing but I like mine to feed and be in a routine so when allen & page suggested Veteran Vitality for a youngster I couldn't understand it, he has always looked very well and never been underweight always perfect hence why they recommended this. it has every single supplement and goodness in it that you can think of all without the sugars fat and fizziness! thoroughly recommend something simple like this but with plenty of vitamins and minerals for your horse to grow right.
good luck x
