3 yr old girl riding 16.3!!

is she really a good rider? or just so young that she's relaxed because she has no idea of the danger she is in at that age?
i used to put my daughter up on my 16.2 tb when i brought her in from the field, it was a long walk and it was easier for me and daughter, (she always wore a hat) she would hold onto the front of the rug and i would lead. At that age she had no fear and a lot of people would comment that she was going to be a real good rider when she got older etc. move on a few years (she's now 11)and she refuses to get on the 15hh boy as she is much more aware of what can go wrong, she is a nervous nelly even on her own pony!! i actually think my daughter showed more promise as a 4/5 yr old than she does now, not that i would ever tell her that, she's lost the confidence of youthful ignorance.

PandorasJar - I never said in my post but I would have preferred a hat on her most definitely!

Some people choose not to wear them (I've been in that camp in the past) but no child should get on any pony / horse minus a hat.

Sorry, didn't mean it the way I've read it back as!
It's just one of the things that really gets to me. No problem with people doing it, big problem when it affects others or if you're silly enough to put a hat on without doing the straps up and think its any safer.

Well no doubt shes a cracking rider and the horse is a saint, however having read the mothers comment on the video that 'she must have taken the hat off' and that she hadnt noticed just annoys me... she lifted the child onto the horses back, and stood in the middle and didnt notice she didnt have a hat on? I doubt that very much! It annoys me more the mother has tried to cover up the fact she let her small daughter ride a large horse without the sensible safety of at least a hat!!
