If we had 30 acres my husband would probably put in some log cabins and turn it into an offloading playsite. If I was nice to him he might let me have 3 or 4 acres for the horses
Erm... OP says it's in a remote area. Scottish Highlands?
I guess not many here have lived remotely. At my last place (8 acres), it was a 20 mile round trip to buy a box of matches and 50 to get any tools more complicated that a screw driver!
If we had that kind of land I'm pretty sure I'd get squashed into a few acres with my horses and the rest would be used as a paintball site and somewhere to keep and run steam engines! I wouldn't get a look in for a horsey vocation!
Oh, except actually thinking about it, I'd like to set up something like Rockley, with all the tracks and do rehab. Hmm, wonder if Nic would consider a franchise?
Crickey what kind of sheep do you have
Think you would sadly be lucky to make any money from that acreage.
We have fifty acres in the south east. One ten acre field was rented to a haylage contractor, for the princely sum of £35 per acre per year.
Stewardship grants etc are not exactly going to even cover costs of fencing and upkeep.
Lots of fab ideas here but chance of getting planning for lots of them probably negligible.
We have no neighbours and am fighting council to get permission for tiny (9 unit ) cattery in a redundant barn. Main concern being the extra one car a day on the lane
If I don't get it may apply for log cabins or yurts just to annoy the neighbours
