May not affect many people on here but having big squabble with DVLA over husbands licence catagory C1 to drive our box now he's 70. DVLA website and their own leaflet on page 5 inf4d-d4-medical-examination-information-notes states " If glasses (not contact lenses) are worn for driving, the spectacle prescription of either lens used must not be of a corrective power greater than plus 8 (+8) dioptres in any meridian " with plus 8 in big bold letters. Husband has one eye at minus 11, DVLA medical dept will not issue licence with C1 saying it must apply to minus prescriptions as well - it just doesn't say this. Optician says this is rubbish, there is no restrictions on minus only plus. Have spent all morning on 4 calls to DVLA waiting nearly an hour to get connected each time, now they want a letter from optician who can't see husband for 2 weeks (not their fault) You would expect DVLA to know what their own rules are on this, wonder how many people have just given up !!
