so took my 4 year old to his second ever competition today- went to Richmond for BD to do P12 and P14. asked for early times because he's a bit wary around other horses and was on first

(although this did mean getting up at 5am as richmond is 2 hours away from me

)
took him into the working in and had place to myself for a while which was good and then another horse came in. managed to successfully avoid going near them for a while but then didn't notice that she was changing the rein as i was coming off a circle (will teach me to stop looking down

)- but Vandi did and sort of leapt sideways- and i didn't...and ended up sat on the floor

felt really sorry for the other lady because she was apologising but totally wasn't her fault

its wierd because he's not like this at home- guess i just need to keep taking him out til he gets used to it

fortunately he didn't try to run away so got back on and finished working in

went in for P12 and was really pleased with how he went- no spooking at all which is a HUGE improvement from last time
grin.gif
felt a bit untidy but i found P12 a hard test to do on a baby horse- the transistions were all a bit close together
smirk.gif
but overall much better than last time (when i got 55%) so was pleased. in the end i got 65% and came 2nd in the Open section (3rd overall) so well pleased with him!!

also did P14 which also went well but again a bit hurried but was pleased as again no spooking and at least going forwards this time. got 63%

didn't think i would get placed with that score (as a qualifier) so came home and didn't wait for sheet....but generally really pleased with how he behaved for only his second show

so would mine if he had to do a test at home...he's an idiot in the arena- spooks at all sorts of imaginary things....
