4 year old NF

We had exactly the same problem with our little mare by buckland dragonslayer - she is incredibly sharp and its taken a while to get her on side- we just took lots of baby steps and lots of reward for everything good, and everything rather black and white! She took great security from us knowing exactly what we wanted from her- she is now rising 6 after being backed at 4, and having many problems and a bit of time off on the way to mature mentally- she has come out this side of winter so much mor ready for it all, and is turning out to be cracking, so willing and so intelligent (her downfall!) You are very lucky and so are the pony, you will have so much fun, they give you back everything you put in (eventually) ours is a pleasure to ride now!

I really hope so, he's such a pretty boy and is very brave really: tractors, quads, cattle lorries, plastic bags and tarpaulins: none of it bothers him much more than a tiny jump and a prick of the ears.
I really do have high hopes for him :-)

Hello all! Remember me? :-)
Well Billy and I have cracked it! It's taken 7 months but he can now canter both in and enclosed track and in an open grass field!! :-) in addition to this he now has mastered a walk to canter transition!
I took him to a county show in august and showed him inhand and although he didn't place he did very very well and both traveled and behaved beautifully!

Couldn't be more proud of him, it was worth the effort and frustrating days!
