Just wanted to share with you all my 4 year olds first ever clip! He was very well behaved :)

My boy had the clippers run over him a few times to feel the vibration and hear them but when it actually came to putting the clipper blades on him? completely different story!!! You would think we were trying to kill him.

Very smart clip!!

What a good pony, mine is good to clip (Doesn't need to be tied up) and her previous owners couldn't get near her face to clip it but I can take half her face off.

I am envious though because I clipped her 2 years ago and wanted to clip her legs off. Buffy said no, I got one leg off, she looked like this! (Spot the bald leg!!!) :o

well he is in for a shock if he thinks he is getting away with it next year! luckily he is not doing a lot this year but next year it IS coming off!

I clipped a 4yo today. He was a wa * * * r! To put it nicely :D Wouldn't let me fo his head, tried to kick me, bite me, squash me, stamp on me - the works! Got the git done though!

Thats a point, I got kicked by another 4yo last week - the only time I have ever been kicked clipping!

Actually the 4yos are the worst no matter how many times they have been clipped before!

5yos are the best to clip!

Luckily mine didnt kick but he did insist on walking forwards, then rushing back, then coming forwards then trying to rush back again, then sticking his head in the rafters. then at the last little bit he put in a half rear so he got a major wonky line!

I hope you are right EKW, I have my 5 yr old to do Saturday , he thinks everything like water in a hose, main and tail spray, the dentist well hell they are all out to kill him...... Tractors with big flashing lights mean one thing..... Carrots on the trailer

If your horse is prone to being a bit of a plonker then pop some sponges in his ears as ear plugs! They are a wonderful revolution to the clipping word that I discovered last year! Unfortunately it means that I don't always get some sedated that really need it hence the wa * * * r above lol!

Ooo may try that one. Thats if he doesnt think Im trying to kill him but putting things in his ears!

My five year old just fell asleep :-) he will be having his second clip tomorrow as he doesn't even look like he has been done but he will be having the fine blades this time because he is so hairy I'm hoping it will take longer to grow back with fine blades!

H was clipped for the first time 2 years ago and was so disturbed he had to be twitched (I wasn't there - don't what I would have thought of that if I had been!). Then last year he stood ok, was a bit of a plonker (apparently - not there again), but didn't need twitching. Then this year, I arrived half way through and he had been standing like an angel and, I think almost asleep!! I guess he realized in the end that it wasn't actually going to kill him!

My 4 year old is completely bald too - bar her ears. Got to work on that one...She looks gorgeous and smooth all over. She let me do her legs without any bother too. Just the damned furry ears....

Well I am hoping Nell will be good, she was excellent when the freezemark lady clipped out an area for marking under her mane, she kind of looked and wondered but that was it. I am seriously debating giving her a bib clip to introduce her this first year, she gets so sweaty and I have not started riding her yet, she is a right little sweaty betty!

I did a 'first ever' clip on a 4yo last week too, he thought it was great.:D
Tried to groom me at first, then went so relaxed he got his willy out and started slapping it against his belly!:o

I also did a 5yo who did his level best to break my toes, my face, and the clippers...

:p

Can I trade my 4yos for yours?!? You can have my ***** and I'll have the nice ones ta!

No clipping for me tomorrow though :D Mega happy about that! :D

Mine got hunter clipped this week. At first he thought it was very traumatic and only stood still (ish) under sufferance, but by the end he was relatively relaxed, bar kicking a few times at ticklish bits under his tummy.

Didn't take his head off though - he's a fidget - may try and do a half head with some small trimmers for the weekend!
