Can you take it to a mechanic and have a look at it up on ramps - at that age, I would be wanting a good look underneath, or rather, I would be wanting someone who knows what they are looking for to have a look underneath.

I have just sold a p reg shogun as the bills were starting to get hefty. The chassis was rotten, tyres needing attention, alternator mounting rattling etc.

That is pretty low mileage for a P reg disco and not too pricey. Haven't read any of your previous posts so don't know what you have looked at before, but one of the main things to check for with discovery's is rust. My Dad bought one cheap last year to do up and sell on and the boot was so rusty he actually fell through it. Deffinite MOT failure!

Ok...rust wise it is looking pretty good....it has 11m MOT....... so thats 11 months for me to save up in case it turns into a seive by then...

I would check the engine with a towing vehicle - its not so much the mileage but whether the engine has been knackered towing (although you should be ok with a Disco).

I do about 12k a year in my car but think the average is somewhere between 6k to 10k so pretty good mileage.

Check the floor of the boot because that is a weak point where they normally can rust through.
