Know age isn't a guarantee of anything but generally speaking which would be better an older model with low mileage or newer model with high mileage?
Thanks

id go with the older model with lower mileage as youd only be having to change the younger one fairly soon and its possible that its already done a lot of towing or had a hard life. take someone who knows about cars with you as the older one may have been used by someone who never got out of third gear which would not do the engine much good as it would be constantly revving quite high

For me, it would depend on the make of vehicle. IMO older Discos are better than the newer models, so I would go for the older, low milege Disco.
Older jap vehicles, eg Troopers, Fourtraks, tend to get the rust in them. A high milege jap vehicle would not worry me as they seem to go on forever, so I would go for a newer, high milege one.

Depends on how many miles you will do in it, if its a second car which sits around most of the time then high milage is best for value for money. people who do big mileages mosty look after cars well because they need it to be reliable, and if its motorway miles it dosent wear things out just trundling along in top gear like stop start driving does... I would avoid anything that has, done alot of towing or been a farmers or a builders car,

We did just that .... We went to look at a nissan navara 2003 with quite high mileage .

We then went to look a discovery 2001 with lower mileage than the navara .

Bought the discovery in the end .

If we were selling the navara say in a years time ... It would have no doubt been unsellable , Whereas the discovery would sell all day long with the mileage it has or will have within another years worth of driving .

I would also look at how well the vehicle has been looked after - lots of tiny bumps and scrapes to the paintwork may mean it's been badly driven even if it is low mileage.

Well yeah that goes without saying ... The navara that we seen had scrapes and an odd dent ... For a 2003 ....it had quite a few scrapes too many .

Whereas the discovery 2001 ... is in great shape for the year , barely a mark on her .
