What would be a good cheapish vehicle to pull a rice trailer?
I have shows i want to go to, have a trailer but nothing to pull it

so need to look for something.

Daihatsu Fourtrak all the way!

I bought mine last June for £850 (M reg) and according to my friends dad (i havent passed my trailer test yet!) it tows better than a discovery.

All electrics too and a sunroof, its actually better kitted out than my everyday car!

A Diahatsu Foutrak, brilliant cheap and reliable work horse.

Love mine

but there are quite hard to find now
Landrover defenders are fab but heavy on the clutch etc so a blokes vehicle. Newer ones seem reliable but pricey - Dad is a mechanic and loves his

I have a discovery 2.5tdi which cost next to nothing towing to and from shows. You can pick them up cheep too and they were built for working.

Mine *touches the whole of my wooden desk* hasnt let me down yet.

Remember that Rice trailers are a lot heavier than say your Ifor Williams so you def. need something with a bit of grunt. I tow my Rice with a Discovery 2.5 TDI and its ok but not brilliant and if I'm going up steep hills I have to go in a very low gear or low box. I have just bought an Ifor Williams to save on diesel costs and because its so much lighter.

Another vote for Pajero, a bit thirsty on fuel but tows absolutely beautifully and is very comfy - air con, automatic etc.

Had a Discovery between Pajeros and couldn't get on with it, it felt unstable towing at speeds above 45 - I think probably I was so used to the Paj that the Disco felt different, and if it was the only thing I had towed with prob wouldn't have had a problem.
