Hey guys my name is Liam and I’m new here, I’m getting a full welsh section D cob and in the future another horse of different breed, I’ve fallen in love with this foal and will be getting him in about 2 months
The breeder who is a very nice and honest breeder said he’s gonna make 14-3 possibly 15, I’m quite skinny and only weigh 10-11 stone if that, am I gonna look daft on him when he comes of age to be ridden? I’m about £400 into the payments of £800 and if I was to back out (witch I don’t want to) I will lose any payments made, at first it didn’t bother me but then I’ve been told I’m gonna look stupid, genuinely I’m not fussed what people think and riding isn’t my top priority however I do wanna progress in it, but having a horse is much more personal and sentimental to me, but I’m curious to if I really am gonna look ridiculous? Let me no what you think guys, thank you :) here is a picture of myself to get a better idea ?

how tall are you? On something smaller you might feel quite unbalanced if you are a new rider.
Your weight on a welsh D at that height will be fine.

Regardless, you wont be riding this pony for another 4/5 years so you may have found something else to ride in meantime and improved your balance and feel a bit more “with it” rather than just plonked on top.
(This is if you are 5’10 plus I’m assuming.)

A Welsh D will carry you fine, once mature. Look at the photos of guys riding at the Royal Welsh Show. No need to listen to people who know little about these cobs. They were bred as the farmers all purpose animal, ride/drive etc. Good luck.

Thanks guys that helps allot, I can’t wait for his arrival and yeah it’s gonna be a good few years before I can even ride him of course I just wanted to make sure these haters weren’t right lol, I am 5”10 not small but not tall, I have ridden before I’m not the most experienced more just of a happy hacker but I wanna progress much more in the future just not sure where to start on my own as it was always with my ex, so hopefully I can get better and further I just need to work on my horse knowledge more and not sure where to start
