5 months pregnant and...I can't find a sharer!

I put an advert on equine adverts and got lots of replies when i wanted someone to exercise my old mare so might be worth putting on there plus its free!!

I'm soon to be in Gloucester and desperate to be around horses (and ride if poss) if that helps either of you? I might be a tad big for 14hh at 5ft 8 though...

I've tried Equine adverts...but didn't get any replies :(
I don't think I'm being too difficult by asking the sharer to poo pick on her/his days (they can choose as many days to share as they want, minimum 2/3 days...)field is poo picked daily so only takes 10mins max!
He lives out 24/7 all year around so no other "chores" to do appart from poo picking!

I have found all my shares online and it has been quite a task finding them too so it surprises me when owners can't find a sharer! I suppose it is all down to locality! Have you got any riding schools or equine colleges etc near you? You could ask the instructors to ask around people they thought might be suitable/experienced enough? There will be a whole lot of people out there who will bite your hand off believe me, you just have to find them!

Kat_bath I know sum one in glos.with over 10 horses, who.has share/riding arrangements available. She is a vit picku tho and does make a small charge (not sure how much), but she has a wide selection of horses. X

I have the opposite problem. All I can find in Northampton are 15hh or smaller. When I do come across something that sounds suitable it's usually a youngster that needs bringing on. No problem there but I'm not going to pay the owner for the priviledge of schooling their horse for them. :(

up here - nothing :(

i would love to take on something to ride the now, my babies are too young and my last loan went back as was too aggressive and stressy towards my mare and babies, so now i am not riding and have been looking , just cant find anything x

Know how you feel! I'm six months pregnant and struggling to find anyone to ride my horse - no contribution, no chores, safe, easy, well-schooled horse. To be fair though I really want someone who can keep competing her at her current level or it'd probably be better to turn her away.

Then I've been pulled into helping a kid on my yard with her pony - it's perfectly safe but needs a fair bit of schooling and the rider is struggling. On top of which there's my youngster who needs hacking at weekends....!

I hope I can keep the riding up for a bit longer is all I can say!!

Maybe there needs to be a sticky thread on here for people looking for sharers/sharees? :D Or does that contravene a rule?

And I told you the answer! A caravan so you can move around the country riding all our horses for us. Get an electric blanket for the delicate lady in your life and you're all set ;)

Pookie i've pmed you. My friend is really struggling as well, we are on a busy yard with fantastic hacking in Surrey, she has advertised her 14.3hh mare in tack shops, through pony club, online and nothing, not one phone call! She's a lovely mare, and a lot of fun.

Needing a rider here too!

I have a 14.1 Highland stallion who is perfectly schooled and an absolute softie. He was champion ridden Highland at county level a couple of years ago. I'm 72 so past it!

The down side is, I'm about 30 miles north of Inverness.

Can I live in his stables?

Have you tried advertising on local horsey FACEBOOK pages? For example our local one all things horsey~ norfolk always has loads of shares wanted/offered advertised.

Also, horsedates, horsemart (although I know thats a bit expensive but still) free ads etc.

Think local horsey FB groups are your best bet

I'm assuming you've tried adverts in local tack shops, feed shops, riding schools, equine colleges, farriers vans, vets, notice boards at event venues etc?

I have put an ad in a tack/feed shop but no luck with that and on 3 free websites but again no luck.
I have also put an ad on 2 Gloucestershire horsey facebook page but no reply either.
I don't go to any events, don't use a farrier, haven't put anything at the agri college near us because they are on holiday for the Summer now.
I haven't tried riding school as I have been told they don't like people putting adverts at their place as it could potentially stop some of their customers going there!
:-(
