I am currently looking for a horse to buy and wondered how much a 5 stage vetting costs? The last one was done by my next door neighbour so I didn't pay the full cost. I am getting worried about the whole process of buying now so expect more panic-stricken questions soon!

I recently paid about £230, BUT it was a very big call out as I wanted a specific practice that was a bit far away from the horse.

It should cost £200 - £250. However, do ask the vet practice first as a friend of mine just got a bill for £440!!!! for a 5 stage.

Wow, £200 -250 is fine but £400 plus sounds a bit steep unless the horse is worth a small fortune (and the one I'm looking at is under £10k so def not in that category). I will make sure that I ask the price before I get it done. Thanks everyone.

lol, Anything over 6k is a small fortune to me!

It depends on the vet really

I'm looking at two horses. One is a 16.3 hh IDx (I am assuming the cross is TB but not sure until I get there) and the other is a 16.2 hh Belgian warmblood. The horse is for my husband but I will also ride it so it needs to suit both our needs. Both horses are near to my parents' home and I am viewing them tomorrow. I am really nervous about buying a horse because of all the things that could go wrong!
