-5 tonight brrrr!!!!! what g rug are your in?

550g but he's been in that since I fully clipped him a month ago. I don't really change rugs day by day unless it is particularly warm.

Goodness no, the two fully clipped are stabled and in their mediums, two unclipped old boys are out and in their heavyweights, one has a fleece underneath, TB mare out in her heavyweight, two others unclipped and unrugged but in at night.

They will each be nice and warm.

its been that cold quite often for us - and that's not cold really compared to last year!

my fully hunter clipped (but admitedly not been clipped since november) horse who lives out 24/7 is in a 120gm full neck stable rug with a 450gm full neck turn out over - she has plenty of hay and stays warm

last year i noticed that between about -2 ish and -18 so long as she had hay she didnt actually need more rugs - she gets colder on the damp days with a cold wind

Both the TB and the New Forest X are both in 180g turnouts with full necks - they stay in them day and night - I am a mean mummy and I don't change rugs from day to night!

My wb is in a 300g stable rug. Has been in the same out during the day but since she's just burst her second heavyweight this year!!!.... Tomorrow she's out with a 200g with a fleece underneath. I've warned her when she bursts that she's naked!!! Arghh.

My trad cob with a trace clip..very grown out as he is currently on box rest is just in a nice thick fleece and my unclipped cob cross, who grows NO winter coat  is in the full neck 100g turnout he has been in all day. The 3 hairy babies are all in the barn together and NAKED  lol. They all have huge haynets full of haylage and massively thick straw beds. They'll be just fine :)

Clipped TB in lightweight stable rug with heavyweight combo on top. He is doing fine in that.
My clipped Arab had just a heavyweight on today but came into bed shivering and quaking with cold. So he has a fleece, lightweight stable combo and heavyweight combo on now. It took him 25 minutes to stop shivering. I feel terrible :(
Poor lad had warm water in his feed tonight.
It's currently -4 and has been around 0-1 during the day.

does it really matter what rugs other peoples horses are wearing?? is it a contest as to who can get the heaviest rug on their horse:confused: do we really need a new thread every day on what everyones horses are wearing?!

Mine once again has a fleece under her heavyweight turnout, shes in and I'm too lazy to change rugs :p plus I don't like changing her out of nice warm rugs into cold ones. She's half clipped, is nice and warm :)

A rain sheet and nekkid, and they both live out 24/7.

The pony looks lik a yeti and Jen only gets the rain sheet to keep her cleanish for riding shedid have a low trace clip but it's grown out and not got round to reclipping

Mines in a lightweight around 150g under-rug with neck & then a meduim weight about 250g over the top. Toasty & warm. She doesnt really feel the cold much, shes not a rug fan so the little the better!

I think its more inexperienced people wanting validation for the massive rugs theyre chaining their horses into

The only time mine has seen 400grams of wool was when she was living out last year and it was -15 for a week with 2 ft of snow on the ground all the time.

Shes out naked now, even though its snowing and -2.

Padski is in an amigo medium with neck through the day and normally at night but tonight it's bitter here so i have popped a horseware insulator on underneath , but that'll come off again tomorrow. he has a blanket clip but it's seriously growing out now and although he's fed and has ad lib lovely haylage , he's not porky in any way.

has to be some reason for the endless threads, why can't people just rug according to their own desires and be happy with that:confused:

Ibblebibble I think people do rug according to their own desires and are happy with that - as this thread clearly shows.
This is the first thread I have ever written about rugging:confused:

Well good for you! Now you can go and find another thread to read can't you.

My chaser clipped TB is in a 400g turnout with neck. The old boy, a v fluffy unclipped cob, is in a 300g turnout with no neck but didn't exactly feel warm so have popped a stable rug on underneath. Both stabled at night with plenty of hay and both are normally quite hot horses but seem to be needing thier rugs at the mo. I think it's that nasty wind.

may be your first but it's not THE first;) http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=513009

perhaps it's just me, perhaps i just don't get as excited about rugging as the rest of you!! same as i don't get excited about what coats my kids have worn to school or what weight duvet i have on the bed;)

my girl is in a 250m/w combo stable with a 450g standard neck stable over top .
and in my opinion, if u dont like these threads dont comment on click on them. simple :)
