Can anyone recommend a 50g stable rug (not liner) for chunky HW show cob type, shoulder pleats a bonus but needs to be deep as he is!
I’ve looked at Derby House (don’t like the lilac colour) Swish (don’t fancy. Roan coloured in pink, orange or red!) and Ruggles (massive tail flap! Bound to get covered in poo!)

Will probably go for Swish if no one can find anything else….but haven’t found them very deep in the past. He’s a 6ft 6 in PE turnouts so do I go up a size?
thank you

I love my Amigo insulator for my broad shouldered girl. Their rugs fit her beautifully whereas the Rhino range don’t even come close to doing the front fastenings up! I’ve just checked and it seems the lightest stable rug they do is a 100g unfortunately.

I don’t have experience of this brand but I’ve had a quick Google for anything other than what you have mentioned in your post - have you seen the Epic Classic 50g?

ETA - from the big horse shop, has extra large shoulder gussets and extra depth too

I have the Ruggles one for my horse, as does the livery next to me for her Clyde cross. I really like it - I haven't found the tail flap get covered in poo, but my horse stashes his neatly along the back wall.

I'll be trying the Big Horse Shop ones too, I love the deep green. I've found Derby House, Weatherbeeta, Swish are all too tight across the chest for mine and I just don't like PE.

Hi - the Ruggles one you have, is it the standard not the Heavy Horse one (I looked at the Heavy Horse one, which is the one with the ginormous tail flap)?
Did you go up a size from PE, or if you don't use PE do you find them generous? Cob is v chunky and in a 56" girth due to depth rather than fatness
Thank you :)

This is what I have. He's 15.3hh, some form of cob/draft mix and properly heavyweight. His knees are like melons.

He's in 6'9" heavy horse rugs. I tried going up to 7' for weatherbeeta racoon print but they look like tight miniskirts on him. Even the ones cut for big horses. PE are ok but he's between sizes and the fit is a bit awkward. If I'm paying their prices I'd like a decent fit.

I'm a fan of Amigo insulators because they're so light and quick to wash and dry. Unfortunately, the lightest weight is 100 grams.
Ruggles do a 50 gram which generously sized and is okay, but not as nice as the Insulator.
Bucas do, or used to do a 50 gram stable rug, although even their large necks were never generous enough for my warmbloods. Their rugs are lovely though.
