I have just read ..Cherish.. post about her refund, really pleased for her and it may help some other people with there problem trailers.
I am going to ring on Monday and start with some letters, although mine is not so straight forward as my supplier has ceased trading and we have had the trailer over a year, i wish i had kept on top of this, but by the time you wait for it to be washed and you are using it all summer then you wait again for a second wash etc etc a year as gone by. I have also had problems with the jockey door and the exterior metal looks s**t. I rang trading standards but didn't find them very helpful , all they could say was it is up to the supplier not Ifor Williams which i find a bit hard to understand. I am going to try Consumer Direct see if they can help. I strongly disagree with the painting as i think it devalues the trailer and is not really curing the problem just hiding it. It is such a hassle we can all do without.

Charlotte, please don't be fobbed off by Ifor. We too let the situation slide because of THEIR timescales trying to resolve their problem. You do have longer than 12 months to return an item as 'not fit for purpose'. Consumer Direct were very helpful when I called. It did help that the lady clearly had horsey knowledge but still, the Comsumer Protection is in place to help us. They take quite a lot of info from you when you call, so be prepared. You'll need to know the purchase date, how you paid and the full trading address of the dealer. If you paid by credit card (we didn't) you have even more protection. Im sorry that your situation is further complicated by having no dealer.
When you speak to Ifor, I would suggest you go above the team leader in Customer Care if you can. He didn't return our calls as he was always 'out of the office' and less said about our one and only conversation the better.
It is distressing and very hard to stick to your guns. I felt incredibly uncomfortable for our dealer, who was put in this situation with no evident support.
In the end, I didn't look at the trailer as our horsey transport, just a big pile of slowly smouldering cash. Cash that is hard to earn. Cash that I gave to Ifor in good faith and they willing took for a trailer they knew had an inherrant fault.
Can you tell I was a bit peeved?
