I really think the law shoukld be looked at and people who abuse, injure or kill animals should be given harsher sentences. I think this man is a danger. What 'normal' person has an argument and goes and shoots a defenceless animal to 'get back' at his sister?! There's clearly something wrong with him and I personally don't think 56 days is enough punishment. I just hope the donkey's death was quick but somehow I doubt it having been shot by a drunk! :-(

Agree with everything you say but

at least he got jail. A lot of animal abuse cases get let off with community service and a slapped wrist like the MP who beat his cat to death.

Until animals are given the same protection as us nothing will change.

I agree with you, what an horrific tale and what a pathetic sentence. What might he shoot next time he has one too many?

I know, when I saw it I thought at least he got jail but that's probably more cos a gun was involved. Wonder what the sentence would have been had he beaten the donkey to death or killed it without a gun? It's just terrible - can you imagine if someone had done that to your own animal. God, I'd want them hung, drawn and quartered!!!

I don't understand why the law seems to be on the side of the abuser!! I mean, Jamie Gray only received a six month sentence! I really don't get it, some of the things people do to animals and they hardly get punished for it :(

Excuse the pun, but, the law relating to animal cruelty is, for a country of so called animal lovers is an 'ass', those who set the laws misguided and those who enforce it often powerless.
