Hi peeps,

What does this entail? I am thinking of entering at a local show as there is £100 first prize! Am I right in thinking it is six jumps in a row? If so, what is the distances between them, ie, one stride, two strides etc and what size do the fences start at?

Depending on the size of the arena, it will usually be 6 upright fences in a row...with two strides between each. There is the option to have two fences down one side and four in a row in smaller arena's, After the first couple of rounds you mayu find the number of fences reduces to four.

As it's only a £100 first prize you may find it starts quite small...perhaps 1m/1.10m for the firts fence and rising 5cms or 10cms every fence or two after that.

Max number of rounds is five...and at larger comps, the final fence can often reach 2m (6'6") plus

You start off with 6 fences in a row. It will vary, you should have a mixture of 1 and 2 strides between fences. The height will depend on the kind of show. If it's a small local show i expect it would start about 2ft 9 ish.

They sometimes take a fence away every round or two, so you could end up in the final round jumping 3 or 4 fences.

And some shows will put 4 fences in a row then jump the other 2 fences on the other side of the ring so it's separated. Depends on size of ring.
