6 inch gash - bad weekend !

My horse decided to impale herself on the gate on saturday and get a 6 inch deep gash in her bottom - she is also about to have a foal !!! so ive had one of the worst weekends ever !!

it was awful you could see the muscle popping out as she walked im so lucky that i have great vets and friends who all rushed up immediately to help me !!! as i nearly passed out with worry at the begining i wished id taken a picture but it was too gory really !!

Hopefully it wont affect foaling lets hope she crosses her legs for another week to let it heal for a bit first !

Oh it must have been horrendous - how soon is she due to foal? When do the stitches come out? I suppose the worry is the wound will re-open when she foals - what a nightmare. These things always seem to happen right at the worst time, dont they?

she is due now thought that this may bring on the foaling but it hastn im hoping she keeps those leggies crossed till this weekend !!!

they ar coming back next week to have a look they said it should affect foaling but could pop the stitches but that is one of those things and really not a lot they can do !!

My poor baby she feels so sorry for herself !

hmmm not sure about that think she will be glad when she has popped though as she is just so big at the moment !!
