So, for those of you that have been following this story, and I dont flatter myself into thinking thats alot of members haha, but, some of you will know I emigrated some months ago and refused to let my boy go. I have finally come to my senses having been paying for his upkeep and worrying constantly about him, to make it official and let him go. I feel sick typing this as he truly is one in a million but sometimes you have to love someone enough to let them go? My question is: I would like something written up though offering me first refusal if the buyer has to/decides to sell in the future, is that something that can/is often done do you know/advise? Anyone interested in offering a gorgeous irish cob gelding a home, do pm me.

I'm sorry that you have had to make this decision. I'm not is a position to offer a home. Presumably someone here in the UK will sell him on your behalf. They could ask the purchaser if they would considering offering him to you first when selling, but I don't think you will be able to get anything legally binding. I imagine it would be down to 'goodwill'.

I hope you find a lovely new home for him and enjoy your new life in Perth

What a hard decision to make.

Is he the coloured in your sig ? I'm dieing to get a cob to do some showing with but can't afford to buy one at the moment.

Oh no..sorry youve had to come to that decision

If I could afford it I would snap him up but I am already broke from my own

your horse is gorgeous, really hope he finds a nice home, id buy him in a second if i was in england and had the money!!

i had pony on loan with view to buy recently but circumstances changed and im now not buying him, i had a spoken agreement with his owner that if he was bought and then i had to sell for any reason she would have first refusal of buying him back, i would have stuck with this agreement as it would have meant me knowing he was going back to a good home, she now has the same spoken agreement with the new home we found him.

i suppose it really depends on how genuine the buyer is and how much they care for the horse, i would hope most people would be happy to know the horse is garuanteed a loving home back with its previous owner but this is often not the case.

good luck with everything!

Have you not thought of loaning? We're in Surrey and OH is looking for something that will do a bit of everything at low level but still has a bit of livliness.....?

absolutely have but a) heard so many horror stories about horses being mistreated then returned unrideable (pls noone take this personally but see all my old posts about loaning him out) and b) someone loaned him BRIEFLY ie 2 weeks, told me his misbehaved then ignored all contract clauses and brought him straight back - incidentally he has not put a foot wrong since

so i dont want him moved then moved again, its for his sake not mine that i am now, after all this time considering this, but if you are possibly interested, pm me (lots of members have and im very touched).

I am just watching some video clips of him showing. Had to get a glass of wine to stop the tears. He is so gorgeous, I dont deserve to own any animal ever again if I sell this one that I am so lucky to have.

Oh bless you, I know what a momentous decision this is for you. Hope you find the 5* home that he deserves. With regards to a "buy back" agreement, unfortunately although it would be nice to think that people would honour that, apparently there is no legal obligation for them to do so.

Good luck with everything

You are obviously very attached to him

Do you need to free the capital tied up in him? If not then I would seriously consider the loaning route again. Are you in Perth forever now? If not then at least if you loan him out you could have him back in the future

I am sure there are lots of people on here looking for a loan - that way you could *keep an eye on him*. References are UBER important of course, as is a good contract.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Hi. I have been inundated with emails and pm's so I am now going to base the decision solely (soul!!) on people and place so it could be a sale or a loan. I dont need the capital to be honest. I am just so scared of loaning and then getting bad news / a dud horse back etc as I hear so many scary stories and wondered if the "out of sight out of mind" theory might work for me? No I dont plan to be in Perth permanently, but 3 years at least, perhaps 4 due to the sponsorship deal I am on visa wise. Thank you for all your advice.
