Our 7.5t horsebox is coming up for its testing and its the first time we've had to arrange anything like this for a 7.5t box. Our last horsebox was a 3.5t box which had a normal MOT. I was just wondering on average how much you all pay for your MOT equivalent on your boxes and whether anyone knows of anybody reputable in the Lincoln area?!

Many thanks!

Ah, You're going to find it all a bit of a shock I fear. Firstly, no chance of looking for anyone reputable or otherwise, the testers are all men from the ministry. The VOSA website will give you a list of VOSA testing stations in your area. Some companies have the VOSA testers turn up one or more days a week but I'm not sure how you get in touch with them. Many of them don't like to deal with private individuals but sometimes if you need a test in a hurry (approx 6 weeks wait round here) they can find you a slot.

There used to be a Ministry site in Grantham that we took ours to but I think it has closed now but I may be wrong.
You do need to book in a minimum of 6 weeks in advance, and needs to be paid for upfront, dont be late either else you miss your slot and dont get your money back. It is all very strict!!

Blimey, really??? Its due at the end of December?? Eek!

Do you usually book it yourself then Jemima_too and Mrs Wishkabibble? Or do you do it via a commercial garage?

I was kind of hoping i would just take it to a garage who serviced these kind of boxes and they would just run it to a VOSA testing station to be tested.

Why can nothing ever be simple! LOL!!
