In 2 weeks time i am getting a horse whisperer for my horses. They do readings just by a picture of the horse sent to them. Was just wondering if anybody has had this for their horse and what they found out about them ???

I did, out of desperation. He told me horse had a trapped nerve in his shoulder and that a chiropractor would really help. On the plus side it got me prompted to find a really good chiropractor which is never a bad thing. But there was no mention of the stomach ulcers, muscle disease, liver problems, sacroiliac pain or allergies that have all shown up this year. So my own research and vets have proved to be best!

We did this when hubby's mare wasn't quite right but no-one could put their finger on what was wrong. Not one word she said was any help whatsoever and the whole reading was very general and could have applied to a million other horses,

all a horse whisperer who is probably a healer and dowser can do is to locate pain. That is easy enough to tune in to and to do. It is simply communication from the horse. The horse however hard it tries is not going to be able to let them know the break down of the muscle biopsy or blood test and whether it has PSSM1 PSSM2 or RER!.

Weren't expecting a lot were you. Lol

I think it depends what you are looking for and why. I met an excellent communicator through this board and was fascinated by the results. I later asked her to "talk" to a mare we were thinking of buying and that was equally interesting. I do think some people are much more tuned in than others, both to horses and people (I have had the experience of "seeing" traumatic memories in people, which is a bit disconcerting!) In general I wish that more horse owners would "listen" to what their horses are trying to tell them, but that is probably another thread altogether.... :)

I agree with this statement. An example, last week I put a magnetic hock boot on my horse. Led him outside his stable to tie him up to muck out. After I had tied him I happened to glance at his eye and he gave me such a strange look, like a "I'm trying to catch your eye to tell you something look". Straight away I knew something was amiss and I started looking around him, sure enough his hock boot has slipped down over his fetlock and foot! He was far too sensible to be wiggling his leg around in the air in panic, he's too old for such foolish games! Its far easier to indicate with his eyes and face. Sometimes when you are in a rush, work full time, and busy flying around the yard its hard to stop and 'listen', yet its so important and I am determined to spend more time 'listening' from now on.

I had a reiki healer out to my horse. She is very well known and popular round my way and she could tell me about my previous horses, how they had left me, even down to my pet dog and the cat we had lost 19 years before! All this by communicating through my horse. She told me lots of stuff and even told me that I had stopped feeding a supplement with a burgundy lid (which my horse loathed by the way). Blow me, I had stopped feeding RedCell the week before! She mentioned that my horse told me to stop worrying so much about his feed and what he ate (he was very colic prone at the time and I was really worried about it). Altogether a wonderful, wonderful reading and so good to hear from my two beloved horses in spirit, one of whom "had to leave you suddenly - he had a tightening across his chest" = lost to a heart attack. "Another here with a wobbly leg" = lost to wobblers syndrome. They had both come to see their Mum and to let me know they were well and thinking of me.

i can't comment for myself but funnily enough my friend was telling about her experience with one the other day, a lady was recommended to ' have a chat ' with her 2 horses and she said one had had too many owners and just wanted to be in one place and secure, nothing too amazing there but in fact true but the other newer horse she said was very sad and missing the cat, that was all but when my friend phoned the previous owner it turned out her horses best friend was a cat who lived in her stable! she asked if she could have the cat and it was duly delivered, one very , very happy horse!!

Ahh that has brought a tear to my eyes. Your friend is very kind of heart to a) have listened to the lady and b) to have taken notice and not passed it off as nonsense. Just the type of owner every horse wants as its best friend.
