Unbelievable my hanoverian x hackney needs a new saddle, this will be her 7th!!!! She has gone from a narrow medium (3 yr old) to a wide (11 yr old). Has any tried a Fairfax dressage saddle? My saddler has recommended the cob version as it is for horses with flat backs. I had a look at the GP and the quality looks very good but I am not sure about the external knee blocks on the dressage version. Any feedback appreciated.

Well I sell them out in Norway and they look amazing, leather is lovely and I went for the Fairfax Cob Dressage for my new horse (cob type) as I like the external knee blocks I have on my current Kieffer which is only a year and a half old baaah.

I have always had good reports back from my customers regarding Kent & Masters and Fairfax saddles (both made by Thorowgood) and have never had one returned to us.

Yes I have one. Bought it at xmas for my 5yr Holstein gelding. He has huge shoulders and high withers so is a little tricky to fit, the saddler brought a selection and recommended the fairfax for the quality and the fact that it can be changed as my horse changes shape.
I love the shape and the knee are actually really comfy.

Thanks for the replies. My horse has massive shoulders so hopefully the Fiarfax will be a good option. I think I just dont like the 'look' of external knee blocks but as long as it fits I will make do!

Really I prefer them, they are much more secure to ride in and certainly help keep my leg in place. I know some people don't like to be restricted but I like the security and in all honesty need all the help I can get.
