8.5 stone on a 41" shetland ?

I'm just under 8 stone and ride a Shettie so I would say you should be fine, just keep an eye on him to begin with :)

Are you going to be schooling him or just exercising him like hacking?

I used to be 8 1/2 stone and ride a 42'' shetland mare, she was brilliant! I only schooled her lightly and hacked her, it certainly looked funny when I went out with my boyfriend on his 16.2!!!

Tally that you tube clip is brilliant!!

Makes me laugh everytime! Glad you enjoyed it too...

The horsemart vid was very good. I liked Copper. Don't think I'll be getting on one anytime soon - they make great driving ponies and have fond memories of my nan and her pair. I Think they are better driven... personal opinion...

I'm 9 1/2 stone and I ride my shetlands. All of them are big 41-42in ponies that are built like the proverbial brick houses! Ok I look a bit big on them but until I can find suitable smaller people that are capable of riding them then they are stuck with me :D They don't struggle with me in the slightest. You put a kid on Rains and he slugs it along, I get on him and he is positively bouncing!

My newly broken pony at her fist show:

Evidently not struggling as she went to take off with me after the Sec C!
