8 Guide Dogs A Month Being Attacked

No to it being an attack on a disabled person, it's an issue with the dog/s unless it's intentional by the other owner? Awful thing to happen, for both dog and owner though :(

I don't ever understand how microchip ping would help, yet again it would be a tax on the responsible, and the type of people who have dogs that would do this would avoid the law anyway IMHO.

It is always the fault of the owner.Bull terriers of all types are very capable of attacking dogs..IF ALLOWED. However,it is unusual for the attack to extend to a human.Blame the owner /deed every time but not the breed. As breeds go staffies and pits are wonderful pets..with the right owner in the right environment. That environment is not really an urban one with a hoodie owner.

Was listening to radio 2 at lunchtime, there was a Guide dog owner whos dogs been attacked 6 times!
I agree that a attack on a guide dog should be treated as a attack on a person as the dog is the persons eyes.

I had a guide dog go mental at my lab once
We were walking on a narrow path and although my dog didn't bother other dogs or people, she liked to give them a passing hopeful look for food.
So we went into the road to give them a clear route and so she didn't disturb the guide dog.
Anyway the guide dog launched itself at mine, gave one of those get away growl/snarls and knocked the poor blind person over!
I was  shocked although the dog didn't get mine, I thought they were trained to ignore other things and dogs.

They are, but no dog is a robot and not all Guide Dogs make the grade for one reason or another.

Oh yeah I know, I guess you just do associate them as being so good, so when one does something out of the ordinary it sticks with you! I just wonder what it was that made it flip out!

As far as I know, it was fully trained. I used to see the guy out and about with it for years.

This is just awful if the figures are correct.

In my opinion it should be classed as a crime against the person. This must surely take away what independence they have. I can't imagine the fear a blind person/dog that cannot get away must experience when attacked.

I despair of the human race.

Microchipping won't help, there still some buggers that think they're above the law and still have these dogs that they won't train properly.
