I just wanted to tell you all about my new 8 week old puppy. I picked her up on Friday and since then hasn't done a poo in the house and only a couple of small wee accidents when she's been excited. She even asked this morning to go out for a poo.

Is this normal! She lived outside in a kennel but was allowed into the house during the daytime with her litter and mum.

My other dog (a boy) took about 6months to learn....is it girls are quicker to learn than boys :)

Don't question it!!! And keep her training up, she's obviously a brainy thing and will no doubt keep you on your toes :D

My two don't go in the house as a rule (B has done so, sadly, but he was on meds at the time and couldn't hold it) and they were raised and still live in kennels - I think it is a matter of them 'knowing' that coming into the house is a treat, the house is a place for lying on the rug and snoozing and having fun, outside is for toilets, because they aren't in all the time it is easier for them to reconcile.
B won't even go in his run, he is that 'houseproud' :p breaks my arm to get to a nice patch of grass for a very long pee when he gets out first.

Piccies please! And did you ever decide on a name?

Wow, 8 weeks that's fantastic! Clever girl! :D

I always think how good my little lab was at only 12 weeks when she was fully house trained (not even an accident!) but your little pup is doing really really well!

Don't think about it (don't want to jinx it!) just keep up the praise when she toilets outside & make a huge fuss of her & hopefully that will be it! :D

What a good puppy, my old springer was the same he was born outside and kept outside before we got him and he never did anything in the house .. untill he got old and senile :(

Sadly the same cant be said for my new puppy Sausage he is BAD... take him out for walks put him in the garden ... NOTHING gets inside the house bad bad puppy pees and poops indoors!!

My whippet puppy - who is now 5 months old, has never poo'd in the house and only had a couple of mistakes in the kitchen over night in the early days. My other 1 year old puppy was much the same. My husband only has to look a puppy and he knows it needs to go. He has some strange ability to get them to empty themselves really quickly too. After lots of praise, before you know it, they think going outside is the easy and best place.

Isabel and her sister used to wake my friend up at 6am every morning to go out for a wee, they were 6 weeks at the time :) Shibas are (normally)very clean and housetrain easily:)
