8 year old daughter...'This is my dream!' with pics

Love the look of concentration on her face and what a cute pony!

Without wishing to tread on any toes or spoil the thread it might be worth sorting out a neck strap for her for next time. When my son was small our then Pony Club DC wouldn't let any one go xc without one telling all the members if William Fox-Pitt used one so should they. Just secure it to the D ring of the saddle by a flash strap or boot lace. My now adult son will never go xc without one.

I hope she has many more fun outings like this, it's the stuff memories are made of!

It's not spoiling the thread, I welcome the observation. I think she would benefit from using one when jumping in the arena as well. We'll sort one out to try.

Aww she and her pony are such a gorgeous pair...

I still always use a neckstrap, even more so as I've just bought a youngster...

Best of luck to them both darbs :)

Oh Darbs, where did you find that beautiful, willing and fabulous looking spotty pony!

Your daughter is a born rider, I hope you are ready for the Olympic bill?

A friend of ours found him from someone she used to compete with. He is only young, and we are aware that there is a risk with young rider plus young horse. He has a great temperament, but he can be green (when he wants to) so the learning curve is vertical at the moment.

Thankfully we have got the idea of how he responds to training, instruction and more challenging situations, so are bringing him on steadily, with the occasional period of 3 steps forward, 5 steps back!

It was his first time at an XC venue as well, so we must give him some credit for his efforts!

I have given up worrying about the Olympic bill, I am now fully aware it would be cheaper to feed him £20 notes!

This post has really cheered me up on what was otherwise a very 'down' day.

Gorgeous pony, lovely little rider. She will go far.. and she is so so lucky to have parents who encourage and help her.

I don't really see how you could turn him down. You've obviously got the right support to make it work.

Every time a parent asks me if they should buy a child a pony, I tell them to go to a cash point and withdraw £500 , then stand over a toilet and flush the notes away one by one. And if they, can do that, buy a pony!

We need regular photo updates of that pair please Darbs :)
