on the 22nd of november 2004 when we first viewed and bought the big hairy ginger wanna be field ornament i have today - Taz
the most expensive horse we have ever bought especially as an unbroken 2 year old
and has cost us the most over the years due to injury after injury (maybe its because hes ginger and irish not great combo) but after about 3 years out of work in total due to injury he is having a holiday over the winter
been a bit of a roller coaster ride with him but we have finally go to the point where i am happy
probably the most interesting viewing i have been to but he wasnt the horse we set out to buy either we were looking for a 5 year old that had hunted and done a bit of this and that but ended up getting only 1 horse out (Taz) called 0128 at the time because he didnt have a snotty nose
he had arrived in the country just 4 days earlier, had been fully clipped, oated up and left in a stable at the back of another stable behind another horse.
we asked to look at him and a small (5'5ish) polish bloke got him out of the stable and he was rearing and spinning around and just generally dragging the poor bloke around
they then dumped him in the school... and then put a 5 bar extension on the fencing which we were a little confused by. by this point Taz was bombing around the school trying to jump on the dog that was trying to scramble out. they then put jump up 5'ft tall by 4'ft wide in the middle of the school. Taz stopped galloping around the school and all of the grooms left the school. Taz's eyes lit up ears forward and he took off towards the jump and flew it giving it a good 2'ft of room, he kept going around and around in circles over it and after the 7th time the grooms had to go back in to the school to dismantle the jump as he wouldnt let him catch him
we left and then came back and made an offer which they took and he was then delivered the next week
and here we are now
still remember it like yesterday
heres some pictures of the great doofus
and im still wondering why we bought him
