Didn't know what to call this post.

Just wanted to say goodbye to Flora, who passed away in her sleep over night. She would have been 13 this September and had been showing her age but we weren't expecting to lose her so soon.

So sorry to hear that but what a nice way to go - very rare for them to pass so peacefully, terrible shock for you though. RIP Flora.
 
So sorry to hear your sad news. I recently lost my beloved boxer she was only 9! Its heart breaking when you loose a much loved companion. The pain does ease (even though im crying as i write this) eventually.

it's heartbreaking to lose an old friend like this ...you should remember her with love and be proud that you gave her a wonderful life I'm sure.

It's made a bit easier by having the others and knowing how peacefully she went but it's made harder by the fact we didn't get to say goodbye first.

I was cheered up yesterday by going to see my friends 13wk old Great Dane pups and also managed to look at some old pics of Flo, that in a strange way helped.
 
So sorry RIP Flora. I have always had to make the decision to pts our dogs and have often wished they would go peacefully in their sleep, but understand what you mean about saying goodbye. I have just compiled a montage (is that the right word?) of photos of my old shepherd who died last August. It has been lovely bringing back the memories of all the good times.
