This is my 25yrs old hooves to get some feed back on barefoot for a long time no back shoes in over ten years and no front shoes for over five. Diagnosed sept this year on 1 prascend a day and now just coming out of the veil we think.

On wrapped hay and two fibre and oil feeds a day, out on grass between 8-4 every day.

The left fore and hind had seedy toe removed by cutting a quite deep notch 8 weeks ago and this is nearly unnoticeable now, his feet are growing well :)

They look ok, do you feed a hoof supplement ? I'm feeding topspec balancer with everything in one thing and their fibre nuts

Mine has no shoes on the back as he's now retired at 37, I was worried at first but my farrier assures me they are fine, they look a lot smaller than when they were shod and they rounded a bit.

What does your farrier think about them ? I follow my farriers and vets advice

Not sure about the whole barefoot thing, its like its something new when its not. Years ago they were either shod or not

Cute pony! Feet look ok. Frogs are beefy but very neat - does the farrier pare them? There are a number of event lines but I'm not overly familiar with looking at an older horses feet, so this may be normal. Some of your camera angles make it hard to be sure but I'd say the heels could do with being bolstered a bit.

Check that your feed has no molasses in and is low in starch and sugar. I avoid alfalfa too but some horses do ok on it. Chuck in a hoof supplement too (equimins, pro earth or forage plus).
