A 5* home

What would you say was a 5* home.

When selling a horse and the advert says 5* home needed what would you say is needed.

For me, it would mean a forever home with good stabling and grazing and loving new owners.

I would like to think all my horses have a 5* home.

They have as much turnout as they want on good quality grazing, permanent company, are provided with shelter in the bad weather, and lead an interesting and active life.

They are shod every 6 weeks, kept up to date with all vaccs and wormings. They are fed appropriately and their needs are only second to that of my husband and son (sometimes even above those!!!).

For me it would be a loving, caring home with knowledgeable owners - somewhere the horse would be properly looked after. Not necessarily a luxury home with a massive indoor school and a swimming pool for the horses but somewhere with large, safe stables/grazing and company, where the horse will be given everything it needs - like vets bills / regular farrier and saddler visits, that kind of thing, and have a fun and varied life doing the things it enjoys.

To me its a home where the horse will be treated kindly & have all its needs met, both now & in the future.

It must vary greatly. For me it's not necessarily a fancy yard, stables or competing the horse all the time. But a home for life and someone with the experience to do best by that horse.

It's pretty subjective! My home isn't 5*, we only have two stables and one of them is really a sheep shed! Our grazing isn't perfect, my knowledge isn't perfect... I could go on.

I sold a horse recently to what I deem a 5* home. Regardless of where he lives (very nice) how he's kept (equally nice) he is loved, 100%. I couldn't ask for more in a new home.
