I rang BD today trying to order my day tickets and then asked to speak to someone about why BD, BSJA and BE could not get together and do one package. I mentioned that BD gets none of my money currently as BSJA gets the priority but I would like to get points. BD said they were trying to sort something out where eventers could join for 4 months for about £50 for you and horse.

Aparantly BE wants 6 months because most eventers take holidays then. Well they do if you are a pro and surely they will be members already as owners pay for it. So what do people think of 4 months membership for under £50 for you and horse? I thought it was great I am not interested in regionals and even if I was could join as full member just maybe getting some points and experience.

I hope its £50 for both otherwise saving £10 is barely worth it!!

Sounds like a great idea though and something I would definitely do

Excellent idea - I am considering joining BD this winter anyway, but know that I won't do any BD comps during eventing season so does seem a bit of a waste, but the 4 month deal sounds like a brilliant idea.

It is for you and horse so would be about £12 a month which I think is good value. As 2 day tickets are £12. I could pay £110 but I would never use it from March till October.

Lec are you ok as you're off to dressage

I've turned Charm out for a bit and after getting over the initial boredom I'm now wondering how I manage to fit everything in.
It's a good idea though. I wish the BSJA would do something as well. I've on day tickets this year as I can't justify the cost of joining unless my some miracle we do well and it looks like it's worth doing.
JAS starts in Jan though so will prob do that instead.

Do not panic BSJA is my next port of call!! I am gradually working my way round all the bodies. I am fed up with everyone moaning and yet not doing anything about it. Next year I will have to pay full rates for BSJA and its something I do not use that much.
Nobody seems to fight for the amateurs rights in any of the 3 disciplines and I am fed up with being marginalised.

Good on you lec, I've decided not to renew with the BSJA this year. I worked out that it is not worth re-joining the BSJA because of the cost and I only jump over the winter. So it is cheaper to get day tickets.

Plus a number of my places have not been updated on the website so I figure what's the point of paying when they can't even keep my records up to date. No real benefits from joining as far as I can see.

I'd definately join for £50. Was thinking of joining BD over the winter to keep me going as I need a goal, but am now saving for next years' BE membership to be paid in Jan, so another £110 was too much.

Maybe the 3 groups could meet and discuss the matter in the car park or coffee area as they are all based at the same place!

I had a very nice chat with the girl from BD said I could think of 40 people I knew who would use it. Aparantly Eventing magazines point of view is that it has been covered and is bought up time and time again. Well yes it is but thats because nobody sodding does anything about it.
I am fed up with horse magazines being some namby pamby they never fight for anything. The Pros never fight for the amateurs so we are left high and dry with stupid schemes to get more amateur riders and yet the existing members are not catered for.

What a good idea. I would quite like some points for the youngster's 'CV' but no way can I affiliate BD for the year as she's going to be doing BSJA this winter (I hope) and I can't do all 3. I think for £50 I'd do it - let's hope this goes somewhere, nice one LEC!

I think it's a really good idea as I only tend to do pure dressage and SJ over the winter as in the summer the eventing just takes over. So a 4 month package would be great. I've just joined BD today as it was only £60 since I don't have to register Missie until we want to do novice; however I'd like to think we could start doing some novice tests fairly soon so the 4 month deal would be much better value...

£50 would be great for the dressage, and i hope you get somewhere with BSJA, i thought about joining, but when you get free tickets to ride at all the BSJA intro shows, which go up to 1m, i decided there was no point in wasting money...getting free tickets to ride is the way forward when i only jump through winter and ditto with dressage!
