I would just like to say a HUGE thank you to the emergency service men and women who passed me when I was out hacking alone today.

Could hear sirens in the distance..

First a rapid response ambulance, sirens lights everything went off, they passed quicker (going opposite direction) than is advised, but being they were on their way somewhere = understandable.

After turning round for home, about 10-15 minutes later I could hear more sirens.
A fire engine followed by an ambulance.
Pony started jogging a little as they were now coming from behind and I was panicking thinking they weren't going to see us we had just gone round a bend. Turned into some body's drive just as the fire truck saw us, the fire engine turned all sirens and lights off and slowed right down. All the men in the back were shouting thank you to me with thumbs up. The ambulance also turned off sirens and lights and passed slowly, and the passenger had thumbs up to me too.

The thank you is to all the crews for being so considerate when they were on their way to a horrific car accident about 5-10 minutes (depends how quick you drive!!) down the road.
After I'd got back to the yard I could hear more emergency vehicles on the way to the scene, and the air ambulance flew over, circled and landed in a field over the road from the yard.

From what I have hear 3 lads were upside down in an old mini in a ditch. Saw the air ambulance take off and belt over towards Birmingham QE TWO hours later. Best wishes to the family and friends and the lads involved int he accident.

I'd also like to say a thank you to K pony for being so well behaved. She was good as gold considering, and got a very big cuddle and lots of treats when we got back.

So yes, thank you west midlands and warwickshire emergency services, myself and the pony are very grateful!
If anybody knows the men or women in this region of the emergency services (fire, ambulance or police) then please pass on my thanks. I was the girl on the black pony!

L :)

How lovely of them! Hope everyone involved in the accident are okay and recovering, how horrific :(

Glad you got back safe from your hack, you must be super proud of your pony for being so well behaved! :D

Well done to them!! I hope they find out how much it meant to you :)
I suppose they realised 3 lads in an upturned mini, is better than 3 lads in an upturned mini and a hurt/dead horse and rider!!
Do let us know, if you find out how those boys are, whenever I hear things like this, I do worry!
Again, well done to them and you/your horse :)

Where's my LIKE button?! :)

Considering she isn't the most confident when she's on her own, I am thrilled, she is such a star!!
I've everything tightly crossed at the moment as the car sounds like a familiar one to which an acquaintance drives.

I am thinking of writing a letter, just to say thanks when I get a spare minute from uni work. The scary thing for me is that I was going to hack the way where the crash happened, and would have been around that area when it happened. Pony didn't want to go that way out the gate though, clever girl! There were some girls hacking that way though, so fingers crossed all of them are unharmed.

So good to read something like this, well done pony and emergency services. Best wishes to all!

Thank you :)

You should :D I'm sure they'd be thrilled! I know I would be :)

I was towing my trailer last weekend with baby horse in and whilst stationary at traffic light a west mids ambulance came up behind me, as soon as they realised I had a horse on board they turned everything off, even though the lights were on red and the junction blocked, I managed to pull out of their way with a couple of other vehicles and off they went ! I dread to think what would of happened if they hadnt done that !! I emailed them this week and said how grateful I was :D

They are normally very good.

I think also after a fireman in the West Country was tried for manslaughter fairly recently after allegedly refusing to switch off his blues and twos and causing the cow herd to trample a farmer to death, the emergency services have also really taken on board that this isnt just obstinate awkward squad farmers and riders, but a real safety issue, as you say, it could end up with worse outcomes than the one they are racing to if they dont do as your lovely ones did!!

Really pleased you have written to them to thank them, we all know its more effective to praise the good in terms of influencing behaviour.
