I've been on here a while know and I often see the "regulars" and now a bit about them but I thought it would be nice to get to know you all a bit better
smile.gif

For those of you who don't know me, I'm 16 and in my final year of GCSEs at school. I have a 16hh ID x TB called Oscar's Allsorts and I keep him at DIY livery. I have had him for about two and a half years and got him as my 14th birthday present (despite having to put all my savings towards buying him). He's my first horse although I have been riding since I was 3 years old
smile.gif

Oscar was completely green when we bought him having spent 3 months turned away for the summer.
We compete in a bit of everything including XC, SJ, Dressage and ODE alongside PC and RC, and are hoping to affiliate at BS this year
smile.gif
last year we began to crack his flatwork so hoping to get out to some dressage and more ODEs this year

How about everyone else?
smile.gif

As you may have guessed from my user name I am Sarah-Jane
wink.gif
I own 2 horses Sarnita who I have produced from Intro to advanced level eventing and Ashley who only arrived a couple of weeks ago. I am 35 and work full time as a Health and Safety Inspector for Cornwall Council and keep the horses at DIY livery.

If you are sad enough to want to know any more click on the website in my signature

And JP, yes the top 3 photos are from a ODE at SOE and the bottome photo is from School Inter-team SJ at Pyecombe, same place as yours (it's really nice there!
smile.gif
) and your horse is gorgeous - what a lovely thick tail!

Well I'm Mollie, 13 years old and currently own 2 of the 5 horses on our own yard. Currently competing at BE90 level with the hope of moving up next season. Also jump BSJA up to 1.05m

I have 2 horses at the moment, Chloe and Alisha. I've had Alisha for 3.5yrs - shes 16.2 WBxTB and I have taken her from jumping 80cm unaffil to newcomers - she's now currently for sale though. I've had Chloe for just under a year - shes a 6yr old 16hh ISH - she'd never showjumped before I bought her and she is now currently jumping BN and disc and hoping to jump my first newcomers on her once all this snow disappears!!

I'm Annette....I currently ride a stunning 15.2hh(ish) bay mare called Luna who's owner is lovely and letting me do what I like with her. She was broken last year but not done much of anything and she's a bit sensitive (in the best possible way) so taking it steady, lots of hacking and a bit of schooling now and then. I'm in no rush so we're taking things slowly. Trying to find someone to give us some lessons at the moment too.

My name is Charlotte. I'm Irish but have lived in the UK for 11 years. I used to show jump, but now do pure dressage. I currently have one horse, a KPWN gelding rising 9 (OMG) called Oskar who is competing at Medium, I hope to make PSG on him this calender year all going well.

JessPickle - I have a Clydie x too! I'm Gill and this is George. We stick to RC level stuff - arena eventing, WH, ODEs but my instructor has us under strict instructions to affiliate dressage this Spring!
PICT03411.jpg

img053.jpg

I usually only lurk on CR as I feel our comp efforts are a bit puny! But we really enjoy our 2 ft 6 - 2 ft 9 and happy to be out doing in my 40s
smirk.gif

well i'm Jodie and i have 2 horses on DIY. I'm a teacher- i teach history at A Level
smile.gif

There is Vandi, who is my 4 year old (ok he's technically 5 now but i don't want to admit that!
crazy.gif
) who i am hoping to BE this year. he's done some BD and got some rosettes but we both find dressage boring
smirk.gif
tongue.gif

This is Vandi:

And then i have Rocky who is a 14 year old ex racer. have had him since he was 7 and he now just does a few hunter trials
rockstrebor.jpg

outside of horses i have 2 cute dogs- Bobby and Jack:
This is Bob when he was a puppy (he's 1 now)

and Jack aged 4 weeks. (he's 11 weeks now
smile.gif
)
jackpup.jpg

I'm Emma, 27, and have 3 horses. First one is my old girl who is Russian Trakhener, bought her almost 13 years ago with ambitions of SJ, but she's had a history of on and off lameness ever since really. She's a happy hacker now and it seems to suit her much better, she's also doing a bit of veterans showing - 19 this year
(not me in this pic, prev sharer!)
n515390311_1302102_2049.jpg

Then when I finally gave up on T being sound enough to do what I wanted, I got J initially on loan then bought him. He is a 14.2 polish arab, had done a little bit of everything (up to about 2'3-2'6) when I got him but mostly very very fast and in a ridiculously tense and overexcited fashion. Anyway, lots of patience and almost 7 years later he now does everything in much greater style(sometimes
blush.gif
wink.gif
crazy.gif
), and we are now competing at Intro (wasted last season tho after I broke my leg), also affilliated dressage now competing mainly at prelim/novice. He is my horse of a lifetime without a doubt....

And now also have our youngster, Roo, bought as a share between my husband and I but think I might keep this one as I love him to bits. Had him about 9 months, he'll be 4 this year, backed him from scratch last summer, he's currently having a bit of a break but aiming to start doing some baby dressage this spring and then maybe the odd little jump over the summer. His mum and dad are both SJers, but I would quite like to event him - hoping that things will look a little smaller from the back of a 16.2hh than they do off a 14.2hh!
In the summer:
4963_191638860183_656755183_7208695_7212180_n.jpg

Learning about work! (have now got cavesson that actually fits him!)(and looking at that makes me realise how much he is filling out and growing up - altho still has very long legs!!)
5691_218291610183_656755183_7921754_5392275_n.jpg

And in the snow!
17433_687390058263_61205302_42622963_3941113_n.jpg

Sorry got a bit photo heavy there!

Keep all three at a small DIY yard near home, compete J regularly, T and Roo at the mo just generally go to nice places to hack altho hopefully Roo will be joining J on the comp front this year!

Hi I have an Irish TB ex-race horse who I event at Intro & PN levels. I have owned him for 3 years - he is my first horse.
Would love to upload a photo - but have no idea how!

Hey

My names Jess Amess I'm 16 years old, studying Graphic Design!!!

I own one horse a 7 year old 16hh pure bred egyptian arabian gelding, whom I mainly show and planning on BE in a year or so
smile.gif
I bought him on the 25th July 2008 as a looney stallion who had done nothing apart from inhand showing and had a amazing showing record so I bought him to bring on and show undersaddle!!!

Had a very successful first season undersaddle competing at county and national level!!! I had to bring him on myself from scratch, I have completely un horsey parents and no menage so it was alot of hard work for me!!!

Me is my absolute horse of a life time though!!! He means the world to me!!! I'm planning of HOYS quals end of this year/next year depending on how it goes and also eventing!!!!

Ignore jumping saddle in this pic :P

I'm Vicky, I live in Belgium with my husband (who's Danish/Swedish) but still ride for the UK. I've just taken on my own little yard, but currently only William is living there! He's my 4th-generation homebred gelding, rising 9, he did his 1st 3* last year, and we hope to keep building on that. I've been lucky enough to have reached this level on two other horses, Fabuleux du Fief and Deconometrie, but both of those taught me how fast dreams can become dust, so I try not to dream too much anymore. I have Deconometrie's daughter, by Mill Law, who is rising 3, so she will be coming to my yard soon and starting a a bit of work. I work part-time in a shop in the village where we live, and do a little bit of teaching too.

Newbie (ish, not posted for years and lost my login info ops.) Hayley 19 from kent. Work as a groom and general equine slave. I own a 15.3hh turning 9 this year hanoverian gelding and compete BD novice. Strating to work more medium at home but shows and warm ups are very scary!

(old photo)
oldencraig1e.jpg

Also own rescue cob Brown Bob, got him as a bag of bones when he was 12 months old. He is 13.3hh turning 3 this year and very cheeky.
IMG_2896.jpg

Then my sisters mare Flower 16hh Belgian warmblood mare, 6 years this yer but more like 4 years to ride. Not had her very long. I will compete her BD dressage when shes ready.
IMG_3061.jpg

IMG_3041.jpg

Also show mini horses and coloured cobs
smile.gif

I'm Charlie i'm 22 and I normally event, except over the winter, where I have to suffer dressage and showjumping!!!!!!!! I have 5 horses and a donkey. I started riding when I was 13. I got my first horse when I was 16, after having a pony on loan for a year.

Pippa is an IDxTB who I evented to PN level. She now does a bit of flatwork with my mother, and I sometimes do the odd hunter trial with her.

IMG_1411.jpg

I then got Millie an ex racehorse who was rescued from the meat man when i was 18. She turned out to be a fab eventer. I took her to CCI* before putting her in foal (due June 2010!)

IMG_2393cropped.jpg

038.jpg

When I was 20 I got Murphy, he had evented to intermediate with a pro, but has alot of quirks, and is not easy!!!!! But he took mt to my first intermediates last season.

IMG_6561.jpg

I got Colin as a feral 3 year old in October 2008. He is now out and about doing a bit of dressage and jumping. I'm hoping to event him in 2010.

IMG_0375.jpg

But he has his moments!!!!

IMG_0187.jpg

I have Jem, another ex racehorse, who I bought for £100 as a problem horse last March. Last season she placed in all her 4 BE runs, winning 2!!!!!

jematstafford.jpg

IMG_8894.jpg

IMG_8004.jpg

And finally I have Samuel the donkey, who is from the donkey sanctuary.

IMG_0545.jpg

That is my gang, sorry for the pic overload!!!!!!!

I'm Katie 26 and have two horses

Dan is now retired, used to jump 1m25-1m30s on him and did reasonably well, nothing spectactular but couldn't afford to do as much as I liked! Also had him schooling advanced medium and competed unafil medium before I retired him with soundness issues. He now is very hairy and lives in a field but he used to look like this...

1small.jpg

affiliated3littlelittle.jpg

My other horse is Fleur. Originally brought by my housemate she was somewhat of a wild child as a youngster and rather difficult to say the least which Tigers_eyes can confirm
wink.gif
I finally brought her this year having ridden her for about 5 years now. Due to no money have basically done next to nothing over the last few years despite the fact she has talent and ability although sometimes lacking in brains
smirk.gif
Last year managed a whopping 2 (yes 2!) unafil ODEs and even managed 2nd at Stockland Lovell

Was hoping to actually do some competing this year but as I'm now saving for my wedding that idea may have gone out the window!!

This is Dylan aka Hermitage court

DSCF0470.jpg

I have had him about 2.5 years - he came off the track from my dads boss who gave him to my dad as part of his bonus
smile.gif

He spent the first six months generally trying to injure himself in every way possible as TBs do but some straight talking from my vet who has evented at 4* level got us back on the road again
smile.gif

We started off living in a pessoa as he looked like a giraffe on speed most of the time and gradualy worked our way up to our first competition.

A novice combined training - we also took my friend along for the ride and she rode him in the prelim. It was also the first time I had jumped at a competition for about 10 years and was sooooo unbeliveably nervous

SDC10549.jpg

dressage - novice 25 - 61%

http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=6655644&l=3d65642f34&id=800455152

showjumping - 2'9 - 3' (excuse the defence position
wink.gif
)

so we survived that and started to go out a little more

SDC10728.jpg

although he was never too impressed when he looked like a girl at the end of the day
smile.gif

SDC10830.jpg

The started having lessons with a fab instructor who inspired alot of confidence in both me and him so both him and my riding (hours and hours of lunge lessons and no stirrups ) improved.
We soon discovered that grass bought out the giraffe even further :s

SDC10808.jpg

but we continued with the competing and had a really good couple of shows where he went beautifully

IMG00021.jpg

IMG00026.jpg

we qualified for the ex racer club champs which were cancelled unfortunately but doing the qualifying classes has made me realise how much I enjoy showing so this is where I am going to focus my attention now.So since then we have been having some fun doing

smile.gif
I show them all unaff and aff...my old girl I haven't shown yet cos I only got her last summer, she was going to go for meat, she is in much better condition now and I plan to do one or two unaffiliated shows with her then affiliated veterans this season
laugh.gif

toomanyhorses - Hermitage court.... sounds like one of Pats race horses? Your not at manor farm by any chance? Also was you the lady that went to see a big chesnut hannoverian last summer in East Farleigh? If so i was the person who rode him for your veiwing
smile.gif

Gosh you all seem to have been riding for yonks & have done so much. I'm 63, didn't ride until I was in my teens & taught myself on a friends pony. Then came to England from Ireland, got my first horse when I was 31 (husband said I could have a horse or a holiday so I chose a horse as I'd have that all year round). I bought a 2 yr old TB ex race horse from York Bloodstock Sales. Bred a foal from her & competed to National level in dressage & showing. Still got her age 28 & retired. Bred a foal from her, now 10 yrs old, & he also competes (&wins) at National level in showing, dressage & jumping & we also hunt & hack. Also got a 12.2 pony, been beaten up in past (started his education in a 'bad' showing yard so worries a lot) but is the most delightful character now. No rider, so being small & light I school/ride him & we have just started competing in unaff dressage & being placed. My 3 are pets & will end their days with me. An old friend, same age as me, once said did I not think I was too old to do the jumping/hunting thing & I said yes but I have no-one else to do it & the horse needs to learn these things. My horses trust me & I trust them.

Thank you for replying everyone

Your horses and ponies all look stunning!

Diggerbez - I love your dog!!

JessandherArabian - I think I have seen some of your videos on youtube

Thanks once again to you all and please keep them coming

What a great thread. I am 48, single mum, work full time so struggle to ride or find the finances but nevertheless currenly own 2 horses. Used to compete a lot as a teenager & evented & SJ.
Now am determined not to allow age to stand in the way & am planning on competing Lancer next year, he's rising 4, 16.2 ISH, pretty feral & unbroken but I think a lot of him :
muddypony.jpg

For years I struggled competing myself whilst having 2 boys with ponies, I was the ultimate Pony club mum:
WillSparky.jpg

But the love of my life is Sienna: she's nothing remarkable but tries her heart out, is full of fun & we've competed BE & BSJA & always had fun. She's home bred, 15.2 & 16 years old now & my oldest son is competing her at PC & they get on really well:
