So apart from a running gag - which other bit could I use to keep Stars head up (for SJ * XC) as opposed to allowing her to get it down, in which case i can end up coming of lol...

Any ideas? x

I have the same problem and found for XC the running gag or cheltenham gag(as its called) is the only thing that works. For SJ i have found the myler comfort snaffle with hooks works, but i have only used it in arenas not Sj on grass. Might end up with the cheltenham gag for Sj once we start show jumping on grass in the spring.

Yeh will have to give that a go then...the only thing is does is gets excited, squels and can chuck her head down, so obviusly just need somthing thats gonna give some help when needed lol

That would prob do the trick! I think someone on here had a neue-shule bit snap out hunting, it was posted a while back, have a feeling it may have been k9h for some reason? May be worth contacting her??
I used to hunt a puller/bucker in a waterford 3 ring gag, it was quite severe so sensitive hands were a must but it kept his head up!!
I'd avoid a curb chain as that will lower the head.

i have a loose ring waterford for sale - never used, still with all the tags on size 6 1/2 (you have to have waterfords 1/2 an inch bigger than you would a normal bit)......

The bit you posted with a curb strap would work beautifully

I have been having the same problem with my mare putting her head down on fun rides and in between X country jumps. I ordered a NS waterford jumper bit on hire from shop4bits and it is great. My mare really seems to like the bit and you can use it on the bit ring or the shanks and I did see on the internet that it can be used with a curb strap (but I haven't needed that yet but may try it if I take her hunting)
