Sorry this is late guys :o

Sunday I had two lessons, and worked on the yard.

First lesson was good, was riding the ridiculously bouncy Dawi again! Eventually really got him moving, and he even managed to spend some time as lead file without having a hissy fit  Did try to throw in a few baby bucks in protest tho, silly boy! Got a semi-decent canter out of him, though I need to really push him on!

Went to check my girth about half way through, and saw that it looked a but worn, so off I hopped while we phoned for someone to get another girth, just in case!

Then we did a mini drill ride, but I had to be my own pair as we had 5 people... It was really good fun! Difficult but funny, as the two young lads occasionally forgot which direction was which...

Finally, we finished up with some no stirrups work, which I still find difficult on him... He is so so bouncy, and I always end up with very odd bruises! I did manage to just about stay on...

The helpers lesson was AMAZING!

It was just the three helpers today, and I got to ride my beautiful Bonnie! She was simply fabulous :D Somehow managed to warm her up, then slotted in behind the speedy little chestnut and got a god canter in, B even tried to pull in front!

Then the games began... We started off with some simple walk there, trot back types, which eventually developed into walk there, trot back, canter there, than MAD DASH to the finish line!! Boy that little coblet can move when she wants to! It was actually really nice to feel her pulling against me, wanting to go faster... And we let rip! Had a nice little cool down, we just held on to the buckle and watched where they went... Bonnie just plodded around the track, Dawi ended up going in funny loop shapes!

Tootled back to the yard, swift untacks, and out they went to the field :)

All in all, two decent lessons :) I LOVED riding Bonnie again, having not ridden her for weeks! And I will not forget the feeling of really letting B 'go', racing against the speedy chestnut and winning on my fuzzy little coblet! :o She has given me so much confidence, and taught me so much!

Things to work on:
  • My toes!
  • Tightening girth while on board - I never seem to get the buckle peg thingy in the hole!:o

Will try and put some pics up in a bit,

As always, thank you for reading and for the CC!

TG xx

hold the clippy in stick bit of the buckle upward as you pull up and it will slip into the hole as you pull up.

That doesn't make sense does it... I am sure someone will figure it out and pop into english for me!

Sounds good, you really seem to be building your confidence which is great to hear. Looking forward to the pics.

I never thought id get to this confidence... i thought i was doomed to stay walking and trotting!

I will get uploading soon :)

Lol, thankyou forum mummy!

Also, dya think you could maybe PM me what you said on fb last night? My laptop died a bit last night and deleted it! :(

I think I know what Paddydou means... you need to wrap most of your fingers around the girth strap but you leave one finger around the 'pin' bit of the buckle just keeping it pointing up like she says. Then it should just pop into the hole. It's easiest to try and pull the girth a fraction higher than the hole, then as you let it back out the hole will hit the pin and all will fall into place.

I'm not entirely sure that makes sense either, isn't it hard to try and explain something that you just know sometimes?:o

Anyway, practice makes perfect:D

I used to hate tightening my girth when I was on board- only learnt how to after a rather unfortunate accident out hunting... My pony was mental at meets, so we tacked him up at home, loaded him and literally threw me on as soon as we arrived and got him off the trailer, He'd then rear and prat about for the meet. I'd tighten my girth after he'd chilled a bit... I forgot to one morning, jumped a huge great fence with a massive drop, weaved through the trees and performed a sharp left turn onto a grassy strip. Well, my pony turned a sharp left. The saddle and I went straight on without him... We were literally right at the front, so I had to stand as the entire field went past me in the muddy ploughed field holding my saddle, before my pony was brought back to me by a whipper-in. So so humiliating- but I could do girths after that!!

What I do is keep my index finger on the metal pointy thing which goes in the hole, and slide the buckle upwards holding onto the pointy thing... Practise on the ground with your eyes closed! Thats what my YO got me to do and it helped loads!

Your lesson sounds fab- very jealous! I want to do gymkhana games again!

the coblet sounds like shes a lot of fun:)
glad your enjoying it! and the stirrup thing.....thats really difficult to explain! somone will have to upload pics of them actually doing it!! :D
