I have for years ridden Corroy in a KK lozenge snaffle. She is quite fussy in her mouth so I have to be quite careful if I swap bits about. Anyway, I tried her in my friends straight bar Happy Mouth and she went really nicely in it, so I have ordered one. Does anyone else use these?

Yep, I've had my Happy Mouth straight bar for years, and Ellie loves it! Really kind, lightweight bit - I use mine for hacking all the time. I never got on with it quite so much for jumping though, where I just needed a bit more contact - found the Happy Mouth jointed cheek snaffle was better

Yes - my old mare loved the straight bar happy mouth - always had a nice wet mouth with it. I have now just changed my current mare over to a straight bar to try it -she wasn't to sure about it to start with - but she seemed quite happy with it by the time we got back from our hack - so we will see if she wants to stay with it. Generally though I have found most horses do seem to like them.

Ditto !! With Woods. was a total revelation for me as well!! In fact I am wondering that he may be able to jump in it, as he was so soft and settled with this on ! ( would be downgrading from a american gag waterford- that is how strong he is! )

Sorry to have not seen you the other day- we had to cancel as the horsebox was broken!!

so much softer and lighter. Wasnt sure if it was a bit fatter than the happy mouth tho?

Yup - I automatically put my 2 exracers in loose ring lozenge bits but they really didnt go all that well in them. Tried happy Mouth snaffles and they seemed much happier but the mouthpiece was too thick so have them both in little lightweight Mylers now with great success. My mare can be very strong but on the mullen mouth myler I have superb brakes, more than I did in any so called 'stronger' bits.....

I love my Nathe french link.

It is certainly chunkier than the happy mouth straight bar

I jump/hack in a waterford, so I was amazed. Don't worry, are you coming another time?

Definately- but when the horse is fixed as well as the horsebox!! Woods saw vet on Monday and he said 4 weeks off and he also has to have xrays as well ( tomorrow ) so may/may not be having more time off depending on the results of that. He banged his knee on a xc fence a while back and the knee still is not right....
