Having a bit of a dilemma about how much I should pay my mum to keep my horse...

She looks after him, but doesn't ride him, she will every now and then to help me out.. She pays for all his food and everything... it's a bit weird , I ask her how much she wants and she just says "give me what you think"??? how much should I give her??? she is skint BTW.

Aww what a lovely Mum. I would give her as much as you could afford to. You must know how much things cost, like feed and stabling.
 
I've been giving her £50 a week over the summer, which I think is quite good as she's done bugger all!

just worked it out, I pay her car insurance (she got done for DD so was better to get it in my name) so that would mean £230 a month - which I guess i can manage, and I don't want her to treat me any different just cos I'm her kid.

She needs to make an effort to get a job/liveries though and I don't want her just getting by on what I give her and what she scanks from my dad.

she is a lovely mum, and B is a happy chap with her - if there is one thing she knows it's how to keep ponies happy!

£50 a weeks sounds more than ample to me. Without knowing your or her circumstances at all, I would suspect the wanting more from you has everything to do with her feels of unhappiness of being unemployed and nothing what so ever to do with how much you give her. If you give her more than that she'll become increasingly dependent on you and not take any initiative herself.
 
Mmmm, didnt realise you were already paying so much. I thnk £230 per month is ample too. Afterall shes your mum and I wouldnt think she'd expect to be payed for mucking out etc. Maybe get her some flowers or somat every so often to make her feel appreciated.
