Just found out my first pony was put down recently. I only had him on part loan for a year when I was 12 and he was 5. He's been at a local riding school for the last 20 years and I would pop to see him now and again, but hadn't been for a while. I was thinking I would go in the new year just yesterday.

He was 28, had cushings and just stopped eating . A friend's daughter had her first lesson on him about 6 weeks ago so he wasn't ill for long. He'd obviously calmed down a bit from when I had him, the little b****r would buck me off soon as look at me back in the day! He was a grumpy old git to the last though!

RIP little Blue. You taught me a lot.

And rightly so. They are little angels. I am glad for you that you got to share in his life for a bit and get the chance to mark his passing now.

xx

What a little star, sounds like he had a long and happy life.

Just think, in those 20 years in the riding school he will have put smiles on many kids and parents' faces, bet he brought lots of people happiness. RIP Blue x

He did, I know many kids who had their first lesson on him. He was capable enough to be good for the more able kids and lazy enough to plod for the beginners.
