A bit shocked by a registered letter I've received.

Several months ago we sold a pony we'd bought at the sales, you may remember seeing CCj in pics of him, a pretty little palomino, we fell in love with him on a day out and he was a spur of the minute buy. Well we schooled him, C worked jolly hard on him and eventually sold him to the first people to try him, a family with an autistic son.
I explained the passport which was from the Gypsy Cob Society had been mislaid but offered to replace it. Well I delivered him, they had no saddle so I lent them mine for as long as they wanted (a month), and when they said they would have to order a bit for him, I gave them the bridle too.
I told them they needed to send me some clear pics of him head on, sideways both sides etc and I would then get the passport.
the next thing I get is an email saying why hadn't I done it; after enquiring back it seems her friend had emailed me pics which never arrived.
I email and say please can I have friends email address then I can look in the junk folder.. Hear nothing.
So I ask them to send them again.
That was two weeks ago, and today I get a registered letter saying their vet is threatening to take the matter further as it is against the law to not have one, and that I should not have travelled him without one ..
Of course I knew the risk and took it, as he does have a passport it was just a case of finding where it had been put..
She finishes by saying I have blocked her friend's email deliberately, and if she doesn't get it within 28 days she will take legal action.
I am to put it mildly flabbergasted.
Why on earth not ring and ask if I got the photos, why not write without sending it reg mail..
I can't believe I am being portrayed as this theiving sly person who would keep a passport and block their emails.. (I managed to receive all of hers, just not the friend's with the pics attached.)
I had already spoken with the G Cob Soc and they will process it as soon as the pics arrive, but what a nasty taste it's left..
I will ask they send it directly to tham, I am so upset I do not wish to speak to them again.. Last time I lend tack and give stuff away I can tell you!
 
Unbelievable. You must feel very hurt and upset to be treated like this by people that you have already done favours for by lending/giving them tack. It is horrible to be accused of doing things which you've not done and have no intention of ever doing.
 
thats horrible- at least in some ways anyone else who has bought from you could always back you up as you seem incredibly genuine:)

im really sorry to hear this.....what a bunch of fools..made me very angry

I remember when you were trying to find the passport!

I dont understand why they are being like this, clearly they are happy with the pony and you were very kind to them regarding tack etc.

It all sounds very nasty!

And why not just email you the pics themselves, they know you get their emails.

sounds uck!, i think these folks may have been burnt before so it's not you, BUT still not nice

and yes defo makes you think again about being nice to folk etc...
 
Sorry but they sound like half-wits to me HH. Hope the passport gets sorted and you never hear from them again. Have they returned your tack?
 
The PIO shouldn't need photos to issue a duplicate Passport, they have the details on file already and simply re-print it. Why is this PIO being so awkward?
Sorry you have to deal with these awful people though and hope you can sort it soon.
 
That sounds shocking, is there an issue with the pony I wonder that they are trying to claim something or what?

Half wits is being generous, Tia. What on earth is their problem? Have you at any stage refused to do what you said you would do? No! So they are definitely one for the peculiar list.
Perhaps send them a recorded delivery letter back and say that if they had bothered to be as careful in trying to send you the photos in the first place as they were with their rude letter, perhaps the passport would be with them by now.
 
Poor you, this sounds awful. I agree, your main defence is that they should have checked to see if you had received the photographs. How annoying and very rude on their part.

I once leant a saddle to someone, and it took me a long time to get it back, it was awful and very stressful for me.

I feel for you, trying to do the right thing then this happens.

Numpties. If they were THAT bothered they would have waited to collect the pony (until you'd rearranged a new one.. I believe you can get one done in a few days).
 
I get the feeling this PIO is a bit of a strange one, they have the pony registered but I couldn't remember the chap's name I bought him from, just the pony's name, so they said no, need all his details again.. I'm wondering if I should just get them a Pleasure Horse society one as it's cheaper than the £25...if the
I have just emailed the owners to ask for details of his eye colour and whorl markings.. the pics don't show those..

Seriously though, my cousins son is autistic and when you see how his grandad behaves, you can see where he gets it from. People with autism just dont get it if its not black and white. Obvioulsy there are varying degrees, but in all seriousness.... make your own mind up on that one.

OH and ask for all the non included items back... t***s
 
Have just asked them for a vet sketch, the chap at the passport issuers said clear pics will suffice provided they show all markings properly. Can't get through to his number so I may well try another society. What's the betting the damned passport turns up the second I send the money off...(last seen in the tackroom when they came to view him, we've searched and searched but can't find it.)
 
Some people are t***s by nature, maybe these people just practiced really hard.

I hate it when you do people a favour and then they come out with this crap, I know exactly how you feel, been there and got half a dozen T shirts.
 
hurray, managed to get through to passport provider who checked the national Database (did you know we had one called NEDS, I didn't) and the pony has a passport. He also knows personally the chap who registered him.
It looks as though I can now sort this out.
No response to my emails from the owners however, I did send them a sharp email pointing out the facts.. Passport provider suggested I email then his address and they can then check with him the facts are correct.. What a palaver.
I should also say we now have a better system for passports with a huge file full of them, before we had three drawers stuffed to bursting.. I shouldn't lose anymore!
 
How hard is it for them to resend the email? Sound like total idiots to me! I wouldn't worry though, just keep copies of your emails. There is only so much you can do. As it is, I think you've bent over backwards for these people. I hope you've got your tack back.

She then said I told her I couldn't afford a passport.. that'll be m warped sense of humour, what I actually said was with so many horses to register this year I would end up bankrupt..
I will have to watch what I say I think.
Her email was thoroughly nasty saying she was convinced I had blocked her mate's email.. I give up. I have offered to send her a cheque so she can deal with the passport chap direct, if I meet her I'm likley to be very unpleasant towards her to say the least..
It will be the one and only time we fall in love with a small pony at a sale and impulse buy.. the idiots you have to deal with later aren't worth the hassle.

I'm so glad you are getting it sorted. Yes, I did know about NEDS, but what the hell were the PIO playing at? Hopefully you an now get these obnoxious people off your back
 
What a lot of fuss over a silly piece of paper that very few horse owners think are of any use at all.I bought a pony without one recently but got them to reduce the price to cover it and it was no problem getting a new one.
They are stupid things anyway.

I take it she is a complete novice? I would let her take legal action tbh. It will only cost her money when she doesn't have a leg to stand on.
 
Blood and sand!!! What utter muppets!! Glad you are getting closer to getting this all sorted Sue! No one needs this kind of hassle - life if difficult enough as it is!
